We recently went to Mexico, my husband, son and myself.  On our way home, my son and I decided we needed to have a big party at our house.  The three of us have had a bad couple of years and after a great weekend at the beach, my son and I decided we needed to have  a big party to cheer all of us up!  Thus we began to plan a Margarita/Swimming Party in the car on our way home from Mexico.  At the border we bought a huge bottle of Tequila. Jose Cuervo to be exact.  We paid $21.00 for the big bottle of Tequila, and thought we got a great deal and were started on our way to a fun and silly party at our house in June!

We got home and at the time, my mother-in-law and her husband were living with us, temporarily (which thankfully is over) I say that lovingly. They feel the same. We had to all come together and live in the same house for awhile, but now things have changed and we all get to have our privacy back again! Yea.  So, we got home and I made the cutest invitations for our Margarita/Swimming Party and sent them out to all of my friends, all of my sons friends, and all of my mother-in-law’s friends.  So, now we have three different generations that will be attending this party...can you picture this in your mind???

As I am trying to plan and prepare for this party, I am trying to picture this in my mind and a thought occurred to me...how are my son’s 22-25 year old friends going to get along with my mother-in-law’s friends...and for that matter my own friends.  He wants to play beer pong...oh no...what to do!

So, of course, I start planning all different types of games, activities, swimming and other things besides drinking games...and I remind him that their will be children at this party not just 22-25 year olds!

We have a raffle for gifts (which was so much fun because I got rid of a lot of little things I had moved into this house that I no longer wanted, you know what I’m talking about, the little lotions, soaps, jewelry, candles, etc. you receive from people you don’t know very well) and we also had a lot of guy stuff we got rid of...my husband and son work on old cars and they have a big garage with lots of guy things they no longer want (I guess I have bought them stupid things over the years...but guys loved them) plus if you buy a pack of beer and beer nuts that goes over really well with guys.  So, we drew raffle tickets all night and people really got into the spirit of the party.  Young and old.

We also held a 50/50 raffle.  If you have ever gone to a car show a 50/50 raffle is where you buy raffle tickets and at the end of the night you receive half of the cash collected and the other half of the cash goes to a charity.  We picked a charity that helped four different types of people directly in our area.  Women who were in domestic violent situations, homeless people living in their cars, men with mental handicaps live independently and young teen mothers.  This charity appealed to me because the dollars went directly to housing for these people. (we are in real estate).  We didn’t collect alot of money but it was great fun!  One of the littlest children pulled the winning number and the person who had bought the most tickets (Uncle Tony) won the raffle!  He gave most of his money to our mother-in-law and she lives on a limited social security income!  She was very excited and bought a microwave for her new house!!! Everyone was a winner!!!

The party got a little crazy because the beer pong table came out earlier than I wanted (6:00 pm) instead of 9:00 pm, but even my friends were playing beer pong. However, two of the 22-25 year olds peed on my back fence?? when there were small children in the pool watching them?? my son says that is drunk behavior...ok I get that but it is still rude and wrong! People go to jail for that...it is just wrong! I yelled at them to use the bathroom, we lived in America and that we have small children watching them.  Luckily the party was closing down about then.  All of those crazy kids found another party to hang out at and left my house at 10:00 pm...yea.  I’m getting to old for a late nighter. That is why I started the party at 3:00 pm.

So our big idea in Mexico didn’t quite turn out the way I had planned...but I know they are still talking about the party!! The party put us in a better mood! So, we accomplished what we set out to do!
