Laser hair removal is ineffective on gray, red or blond hair! Don’t waste your money. There is currently not a laser on the market that can properly treat those hair colors dispite some claims. Laser hair removal always requires more than 1 treatment! The hair color is not what makes multiple sessions necessary, but the hair growth cycles. It is completely false to tell a tanned woman or woman of color that laser hair removal is not for them. If a physician or qualified professional uses an nd:yag laser, hair removal will be both safe and effective. We treat both tanned and Fitzpatrick skin type 5 & 6 (the darkest skin types) on a regular basis. I do recommend a consultation and skin patch test be performed for higher skin types prior to laser.
