You have a decision to make.
You have been negative all your life. You decided it.
You want to fight me on that. You want to tell me it was your upbringing. It was your dad, your mother, your grandmother. It was your first grade teacher. It was your companions. It was everybody but you.
I have news for you. You did it. You decided to be negative.
Sure, you may have seen or heard others being negative or talking negative, but it was you who decided you were going to adopt that behavior.
You decided it, you can change it. It's up to you. You can decide to be positive or you can decide to continue the life-long habit of being negative.
How has that negativity helped you? Think about it. What is negativity anyway? You don't like someone, that's negative. You don't like something, that's negative. All those feelings you like to express, let's name a few of them, fear, anger, guilt, regret, frustration, all those are negative. Judging is negative. You're jealous of someone, that's negative. You think someone isn't as good as you, that's negative. You think someone is better than you, that's negative. How does all that help you? How does it do one thing for you?
Well, okay, it does do one thing. It feeds that ego of yours, doesn't it?
By the way, that's the same ego that tells you to beat yourself up. That's the same ego that tells you to criticize your self, that tells you to feel bad about something you did or said. It's the same ego that tells you to do something, take that extra piece of chocolate cake, then criticizes you for it, why did you do that, I thought you were on a diet? Yes, that's your friend your ego for you. Some friend that is. Why are you listening to that ego? Why are you letting it run your life? You let that ego run you, because you never thought about it. You didn't know you have a choice.
As of right now, you know. You can be positive. You can be negative. It's your choice. You decide. From now on you know, you decide.
By the way, you're the owner of that ego, that mind. Start acting like the owner. Take charge. You're responsible for what you do and what you say. If that ego is telling you to do or say something negative, including beating yourself up, you decide right then. I am bigger than my ego, my mind. I'm in charge and I'm not going to be negative. I'm not going to say that mean, hurtful thing, like I usually do. I'm not going to take that habitual, negative action I usually take.
You're the owner. Act like the owner. Something happens. Your mind is going to say, look at what just happened, beat yourself up. Right then, you decide. I'm going to be positive. Tell that ego/mind to take a walk and get lost. No more negative.
Has negative ever helped you? Has negative talk or action made you happier? Has it made you more successful? Has it made things work better in your life? Has it improved relationships? Has it made you healthier? Your friend, your ego is telling you, maybe it has made some things better. Some friend that ego is. Negative never did one thing for you and you know it. How could it? Negative cannot do something positive. Negative goes down, positive goes up. They're opposites.
So, how do you get positive? First you wake up. You watch what you're saying or doing and if it's negative, you don't say or do it. If you've already said or done the negative thing, you don't beat yourself up about it. That's an important first step. Keep awake to what you're doing and stop. Stop doing, saying or thinking negative. It's a decision.
