Does mesotherapy work for cellulite?

By Yana

With fashion models getting thinner every year, women in general are more and more concerned about their looks, size and cellulite.

With every hype that the media creates, there is a solution that is  being offered, This solution is called Mesotherapy.

Prior to putting on your heals to run to your doctor, consider what’s involved and the consequences.

What is Mesotherapy?

It’s an injection of a special concoction of chemicals, vitamins, drugs and herbal extracts, that gets injected in the area of the cellulite.

Although the drugs that are used in this cocktail were approved by the FDA; the drugs were not approved for the treatment of cellulite.

Since there is no formula that is set for these injections, each doctor is free to exercise his expertise and common sense and develop his or hers own special mixture, which will be injected into your thighs, bottom or where ever else the cellulite lives on your body.

The premises behind the active chemicals that are directly injected into the problem area are better than the topical creams applied to your skin.

Most of us can attest to the fact that topical cellulite creams have notoriously failed “our” testing, and were not able to penetrate the surface of our skin to see results.

While most of us agree that the theory seems to be a good one, there is no clinical data to show the effectiveness and safety of the treatment or it’s results.

Because each doctor tends to use his or hers ‘recipe’ there is no way to know which doctor you should choose. The procedure is not cheap on the average and one requires between 5 to10 sessions, with each one costing about $150 each.

Here is the kicker, since it isn’t a cure, the condition may come back! You should budget for a repeat sessions at a later date, if you wish to go with the procedure.

With plastic surgery becoming a topic that all women discuss more frequently than before, ignore the media hype and concentrate on the doctor’s credentials, check success rate and patient testimonials before you opt for any cosmetic procedures.

    • I have had Mesotherapy...and it works! I had some areas on the backs of my thighs and butt that wouldn’t go away with exercise. The key is to really massage those areas afterwards for about a week. I only needed one session, and it cost $250.00 in Florida.

    • I spent $2500 on mesotherapy shots and it does not work!  It actually added cellulite to my stomach area which I never had before.
