*Double Your Wardrobe Without Spending a Penny - Use What You Own in New and Creative Ways
Any fashion consultant will tell you, your closet is full of lost gems. I give many professional image seminars a year and one of the biggest concerns my clients have is how to have a great look without spending a fortune. I am here to tell you today that you can find what you are looking for in your very own closet.
Many times we forget about what we have. You may buy something, wear it once and there it sits on the closet floor, buried under all your other clothing. In my professional image seminars, I find time and time again people have that great accessory just waiting to be worn. As a fashion consultant, I would suggest the very first thing you do is sort your closet. Chances are there are things you have forgotten about. It is exciting and enjoyable to find those great pieces that were lost amongst all your other clothing.
Another issue that comes up in professional image seminars is how to use those treasures once you find them. My second suggestion is organize your clothing into what can be used in multiple ways. Do you have an eye-catching scarf that can double as a waist sash? What about a broach that you can put on a chain and wear as a pendant? Earrings you can use as sweater pins? A fashion consultant knows how great it is to use what you have in innovative ways. Not only will it save you money, but using what you already own will help you develop your own sense of style.
Another great way to double your wardrobe is to layer. A fashion consultant “trade secret” is to use multiple clothes to create interesting color and pattern combinations. You can get twice the number of outfits out of your old clothing by layering. Use colorful button-down sweaters and shirts over plain tank-tops and T-shirts. Another great tip I’ve given in my professional image seminars is to wear a layer of patterned or textured clothing over a monochromatic outfit. You can even tie a colorful shirt around your waist to create interest in an otherwise plain look.
The best advice a fashion consultant can give is not to be afraid to try new things. Great color and accessory combinations can come from being adventurous. Professional image seminars will tell you to take a look and what you have before you buy new things. Chances are the perfect outfit is right under your nose.
