Finding Mr. Right The Second Time Around

By Fabulously40 Staff

Finding "The One"...Again.

So you're a little rusty on the dating scene. No problem! Everyone deserves a second chance at finding love and happiness, so consider yourself among those. Here are some tips to get you back in the game and out the door to your first date.

1.Splurge a little...on yourself. This is a momentous occasion, so take this opportunity to do something for you, for once. Get a haircut, buy a new dress, spend a day at the spa, or simply paint your nails a daring color. Even the smallest act can do wonders on your mood and self-esteem and make you look radiant.

2.Be confident. Have you ever wondered why some women attract more attention than others? It's not just because of their stunning body or perfect features, it's because they exude confidence in themselves. Make a list of all the things you've accomplished so far and walk out the door with your head held high. You are an amazing woman; make others notice it too.

3.Keep the past in the past. No one, and I repeat, no one wants to hear about the emotional baggage on the first date. Keep the conversation light and fun; share funny stories or talk about something you're passionate about. Just remember to talk about yourself, not parenting. Your date is there to learn about you, not your three kids...yet.

4.Stay true to who you are. Present your best side, but be wary of going overboard. It's easy to try to impress your date by sharing pictures of your 9,547 square foot mansion complete with a yacht, but this kind of bragging can be perceived the wrong way. Don't be ashamed to show your flaws; no one is perfect! What's important is to focus on your strengths and remain positive.

5.Have fun! Dating is meant to be an enjoyable experience, a way to meet a variety of people and explore what else is out there. Don't be upset if it doesn't work out the first time, just try again. So throw away your carefully mapped out plans and go with the flow. Who knows? Maybe you'll discover something new about yourself along the way.
