Pour a Little Lovin’ on Yourself

By Yana Berlin

These days, making time for yourself is rare, but some people manage to do it.  It's time to bring the fairytale to life—time to dose yourself with a healthy heap of self-love and some pampering.  It's almost impossible to buckle under the pressure of the media and expectations of society, to be a superwoman who can take on the world without smudging her flawless makeup and manicure.

Okay, let's be real—the standard image of mom does not include a neat, organized, daily to-do list, while sporting designer duds and a perfect white smile.  Daily life is chaotic and exhausting, there's no time to whiten your teeth to perfection or spend 25 minutes coifing your hair in the morning; life is all about learning to manage each precious minute of the day in order to achieve maximum efficiency.  But women are well-oiled machines capable of such precision, we do our best to remember the kids' schedules and get dinner on the table.

Nothing is easier than putting your own needs on the backburner, but this doesn't give you a license to desert your needs altogether.  There are some easy ways you can give yourself some much needed pampering and attention, without any sizeable time or financial cost.

1.Make a list of all the reasons you are superwoman, or at least to the people around you.  They can be serious, funny—anything you want as long as you are reminded that you are remarkable. Keep this list readily available where you can grab it on a gray day-car, wallet, nightstand, it doesn't matter as long as you can read it when in need of some perking up.

2.What I mean is, find something you can be involved with, something you are passionate about and thrilled to be a part of. Getting into something proactively will give you a greater sense of self-worth and self-value, and will invigorate you by default of whatever it is you're crazy about doing.

3.Spray a few sprits of your favorite perfume and put on a little lipstick.  Mom was right about the lipstick, it really can boost your self-image almost instantaneously, and perfume is proven to immediately lift your spirits.  You'll feel refreshed and reenergized within minutes in front of the bathroom mirror.

You're not a comic book superhero, but you're pretty close.  These few tips will help you gain a couple minutes for yourself and recharge without breaking your time-bank.
