An investment in others?

As we each go about the busyness of our days, how often do we have an opportunity to express “niceness” to others around us?  Some call this a Random Act of Kindness.  As the “Ambassador of Nice“, I ask why random… why occasional… ?  What an investment opportunity.  It costs us $0 and yet reaps rewards well beyond the moment.  Sometimes a simple smile or kind word can entirely change another persons life.  A gentle touch on the shoulder connects our humanness, our need to connect with others.  We have become so busy multi-tasking, actually proud of how many things we can do at the same time that we have lost touch with those around us… immune to the needs of others, too busy to see or feel.  I am so tired of observing people completely devoid of care… the ability to see beyond themselves and their immediate need.  Perhaps the happiness they‘re seeking when they are sooo busy and just don’t see or care for those around them is actually right in front of them, hidden like jewels.  Don’t you just feel awesome when you do something unexpected for someone?  Your day just got pushed over the top because you were “nice” to someone… friend or stranger, it never matters.  There is something down inside each of us that is struggling to break free and become a daily part of who each of us is… and I believe that is the inner desire to simply be nice!  As old fashioned as it may sound, do unto others as you would have them do unto you is what I’m saying in a nutshell.  So as the Ambassador of Nice, I would ask you who read this to just consider making a conscious effort to be nice to everyone tomorrow.  Let me know how it makes you feel… in this tiny way, we can make a difference in the world, one person at a time.

    • Hi Nancy
This post of yours is great. I have to say, my dad was absolutely without question the nicest person on the face of the earth! He was like a warm fuzzy moving through our lives. I witnessed him making one kind gesture after another as I grew up. Total strangers, only having limited contact with him, cried when they heard he’d died.

Thank you so very much for this gentle reminder to connect with one another and extend acts of kindness. Good advice!

    • You hit the nail on the head. I truly enjoy being nice to people. You sound like you have everything going in the right direction for you. I am a tea person myself. I just got back from China. I miss the tea.  I drink tea all the time. Have a wonderful weekend.
