Hi everyone,
I just had the most wonderful afternoon with my mother & I wanted to share my experience. Tomorrow is her 83rd birthday and I took her to Olive Garden to eat and then shopping. It was such a relaxing afternoon that I wish we could do that more often. We just talked and laughed about old times and when us kids were young. We later shopped @ the mall and just did what we wanted.
I miss doing those kinds of things with my mom; at her age she doesn’t get around like she used to. We used to do stuff like that every week.
This year seemed extra special to me because I realize that I may not have many more times like this to spend with her. My mom is basically in good health but her age does show & next year we may not be able to do this. I cherish every moment I spend with her because I never know when it could be my last. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!!!! I hope she has many more.
Happy Birthday to your mom as well, may you have many wonderful years together ahead to create even move treasurable memories..... hugs
What a heart-warming story. I am so happy for both you and your Mom. Those are the kind of memories that mean so much.
My Mom will be 74 on Halloween. They live 6 1/2 hours away from me. I miss those days when you can go eat, shop or whatever. I get to see her Christmas. Yeah!!!
Thanks for sharing!
That’s really sweet. That’s the kind of afternoon we enjoyed frequently til I moved away.
Talk about the perfect gift! Very nice that you and your mother spent some time together, doing something you both love doing. Time is so precious…and i’ll bet there are very few 80+ year olds who would want anything more than a little time with someone they love.
darla5, tell your mom happy birthday too. Hope you two have a wonderful Christmas together. I’m glad my mom lives only 5min away.
Mizmary, I understand completely, My mom calls me every day, sometimes more than twice, and I go shopping with her to ladies tea on Tuesdays, Shopping and I know.. time is short on this planet and I just want to treaure each day… Although she is a redhead fireball / Spitfire ….. My mom and I are close, too, although we live about 2 hours apart now.
I sincerely hope we‘re still enjoying each others company when she’s 83.
Happy birthday to your mom!

Have you tripped the Light Fandango ?
My mom passed away at the ripe old age of 58. I always joked with her about when I’d be sticking her in a nursing home. Bobbi, we liked to do tea as well, and of course she wanted to shop! She and I shopped in different speeds so I was always tapping my foot impatiently. I’d like to have the chance to be impatient again!!!!
I think I may start a blog on Mother. Happy birthday to your mother and I wish her peace and health.

MizMary it sounds like you had a wonderful day! Cindy, isn’t it funny how you miss even the annoying things when they‘re gone?
