Those of us who care about the men in our lives (most of my female friends) as well as my male friends, have asked what is the best way to care for a man’s skin.

Technically speaking, a routine for skincare in men would involve the same basics in a skin care routine designed for a woman:

Cleanse with a gentle, non-soap based cleanser
Tone to remove traces of dirt and to deliver skin beneficial ingredients like antioxidants
Exfoliate with either an alpha hydroxy acid or retinoid (retinol or prescription retinoid). In men, it's important that this isn't dones immediately after shaving as it could irritate the skin. It's best to separate the two - shave in the morning and exfoliate at night.
Moisturize with a product suited to skin type
Protect from the sun with a broad spectrum UVA/UVB blocker.
Treat with skin beneficial ingredients like antioxidants.

My partner, who always opts for simplicity, challenged me to come up with just one product in addition to his shaving routine. Men who shave are fortunate because shaving helps to exfoliate skin so this is one step that could be missed if it had to be. Cleansing is necessary and because soap tends to be so drying, a gentle cleanser should really be considered. Reversa 3 in 1 Cleansing Gel is a great idea - it cleanses and also gently moisturizes.

Sun awareness necessitates the use of a good UVA/UVB sunscreen. Men tend to have oilier skin than women so they may be able to forego the moisturizer and go straight to the sunscreen. Products like [Link Removed] will not only help to fight free radicals, it will also help to boost collagen production to fight back the wrinkles.

The bottom line?

Though the benefits of a good cleanser, exfoliating agents, antioxidants and moisturizers can't be argued, if there is one product I'd choose as essential it would have to be sunscreen. Studies have shown that between 80 to 90% of skin aging is caused by unprotected sun exposure. So for those guys who want to take the easy route, now you know your answer! Always opt for a sunscreen that offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB coverage as found in [Link Removed]
