I feel like this is the first time I have actually been able to witness history! Ok every day that passes is “history“. My generation although saw our share of negative historic events, this is the FIRST positive historic event we actually get to be part of as “grown ups“. And one that carries such hope and enthusiasm. Is this what it must have been felt like back on the day when man first walked on the moon, or John F. Kennedy accepted the office of President. Like something BIG was about to happen, one that was going to change not only our lives, but the lives of future generations.

I’ve never felt such excitement on the eve of a President’s swearing in. I know it won’t be an easy road...the recession isn’t going anywhere quickly...but I feel like for the first time in a long time we are, well, on the right road.

    • Yeah, when’s the last time a Presidential Inauguration was shown live on the jumbo screens at the local arena! There is so much excitement in the air you practically have to wade through it. estatic

    • i have never been even remotely interested in anything political before, but these last few months have seen me paying more and more attention to the media.  i will be at work tomorrow during the ceremony, but my PRESIDENT OBAMA picture will be proudly displayed on my desk.  i am on pins and needles and already have the towels ready (because tissues will not be enough) for when he takes the oath!  They broadcast CNN 24/7 at work, so i’ll be able to witness it live, but oh, if i could only be there...something to remember and tell future generations, “I WAS THERE!”

    • Lissa,
I so agree. My sons were so excited to cast their vote. I was proud of them. And me.

    • I was just watching the MLK documentary on History. I looked at my daughter and said...you are about to be part of something that will change your world much like MLK changed the lives of the people you are watching here on this old footage. One day you will look back at these days with your daughter and tell her all about the days leading up to this historical day.
