    • I just signed up and know what I’m doing for my note today. I had a wonderful lab teacher last semester, Dr. Celeste Baldwin, who became my mentor to go in to nursing. She asked me the other day if I would join her on a committee with the Cancer Society and I agreed but today I’ll let her know just what she has meant to me and how her encouragement impacted me.

You, dear Yana, are also someone who has impacted my life whether you realize it or notheart

    • Thank you Cynthia, you are so sweet.

Carine, my goal is to do a walk with you next year, working on getting my energy back, but once I do, I’ll be walking right there with you. Thank you.

Mary, I’m sooo glad you did it, now you have to promise me, it will be an annual thing for us to do and to share the good news of having a normal mammo.

    • Hello Yana,

I too signed up and sent my note to my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Powell. After I wrote it I forgot to copy it all so I could paste it in the comment section, so here is pretty much what I said:

      Dear Mrs. Powell,

You have no idea how grateful I am for your being my 4th grade teacher. I know I have told you before that I am so glad you were my teacher, but I now want you to *really* know just how grateful I am.

I am so grateful for your caring and understanding ways, for taking the *time* to get to know each and every one of your students, for inspiring us to get involved in our community and in school projects like plays, concerts, etc., for the caring and respectful way you spoke to each and every one of us, how *you taught us* that there isn't any difference between us and any other person *just because* their skin isn't like ours, but most of all the special interest you took in my life after school was out, which looking back, was crucial that someone fill that role!!

You continue to inspire me to this very day because of things you taught me back in 4th grade, and you should know I am extremely grateful and blessed  for the mark you made in my life!!  I only wish I would have told you these things before and in person, but am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to do so now!!

I will NEVER forget you, and will NEVER shine a bad light in your direction!

      ***Much Love & Respect***
      God Bless!
      Marla (Huey) Martindale
