No more Cat Withdrawal Symptom - I got myself a kitten.

I went to Human Society today with my girlfriend and of course, we told my hubby we had an errand to run.  I was there for two hours.

I first was in a cat colony where there was 5 or 6 cats in a big cage.  A black cat was all over me.  That another cat with blue eyes was rubbing around me too.

Then I walked into another room where the cats were in different cages.  I first picked one kitty and was in the room with him for awhile.  He was attached to me.  As I was checking around, the room was empty and this cat just meowed at me.  So I spent some individual time with him and yep yep, we are more a couple then the other one.

So he came home with me.  He was found by a landlord and was in H.S. for three weeks.  He is 7 months old and has already litter box trained.  It said on the fact sheet that he got along with dogs, and children.  So I had the staff to bring out a dog just to see what happened.  He was just fine.  Then they had two bunnies and I had the staff to bring him nose to nose with bunnies and he was find.  They had a little parakeet there as well in a bird cage.  I had them bring him close to the bird cage.  He just wanted the toys hung in the cage and ignored the bird.  Of course, the poor bird almost freaked out.

They said they would clip his nails for free for the rest of his life if I bring him over there.  Also I paid for a chip in him for only $15.  I have to bring him back next week for that.

He has a little sneeze/cough and they gave me the medicine.

When I got home, my heart was beating fast.  I walked in with the cat.  Joannie was after me.  My parents were visiting and that’s not good either for they always said I had too many animals.  Oh well, passed the front door, quickly went into the office.  Mom said it and said “One down and one is up.” She shook her head and yelled to my Dad.  Dad shook his head.

Let me ask you a question “Did you do thing like this?  Knowing your husband would not like it but did it anyway.”

Blame it on the Aries in me.

Then my hubby came down from upstairs.  By there, everyone was in my office.  He came in and since Joannie was around, he did not lose much of his temper.

When Joannie left, he said “So now I can go and buy stuff without your approval or acknowledgment!” and later he said “I wonder when I can bring my monkey home.”

I did not speak much.  He did said the kitty had good markings.

Then we went to Costco and you know how we women best know how - I held his hand, bought an electronic tooth brush set he wanted, bought him a new pillow, etc. etc.  Fixed him dinner (like usual) and set by him a little bit to watch TV.

Son called while I was in Costco for he came home and discovered the cat.  Later he said, “So you and Joannie picked up a cat without telling Dad ahead of time.” “yah” He shook his head and said “no wonder dad is p’d” I said “Oh well, if I had told him ahead of time, would he allow me?” ...

I think my hubby is ok for now and yes, I need to go upstairs quick. (winky wink)  I just want to let you know how it goes.

His name was Riley but I changed that to Keiji - means cautious Ruler in Japanese.  I cannot find a good one in Chinese (that is easy for my hubby and son to pronounce.)

Also let me ask if anyone of you have done things like this: knowing your hubby would against it but you still did it anyway?  Please tell me I am not the only one.

I just have to blame it in the Aries in me!

    • Doreen: How about a car???? estatic

Joannie, my girlfriend, who went with me does not like Keiji.  She said I am not Japanese.  She prefers Riley.  She is the God Mother and she is part of my family.  So now, we are searching for name for hubby does not like Riley.  It is hard for my parents to pronounce the ‘R’ too.tongue out

    • CD...as i read your blog, all i kept thinking was, “her son is going to show up with a tattoo.”  Your reasoning to your son about not telling your husband (“if i had told him ahead of time, would he allow me?“) may just come back to haunt you!  IMO, children learn more by example than by verbal lesson.

The kitty is very cute and it’s great that he is cool with other animals...i suspect he’s not the last to be adopted!  LOL

    • First, I do stuff like that every now and then.  After our dear old dog died, The Man said  no more pets.  And a couple months later I brought home another dog.  And then a stray showed up on our doorstep and I kept her too.

And then there was the issue of my getting a second vehicle.  He said, No and one day he came home and there it was in the driveway.  He got over it eventually and has even admitted that it’s a good thing I bought it, because we needed it when my everyday wheels were in the shop.

But, I can’t help but agree with Daphne here.  You‘re SO not setting a good example for your son.

    • Oops!

Good thing for now, if my son wants a tattoo, he does need my consent.

    • Sweet kitty boy! My preferred method of getting things I want when hubby says no is this: I wait until the conversation is forgotten, then when he is in a good mood I unemotionally state the reasons why what I want is beneficial to him as well as me. If it looks like we‘re heading to an impasse, I bargain with him. I usually get my way.

BTW, I like the name Miki.

    • Tuliplady, I like your style!

Your new kitty is adorable, Chinadoll. Pets really enrich our lives.

I’m glad you’ll be clipping his nails. I have to have Mr. Murphy’s nails clipped. They‘re like little daggers. He loves to do that “kneading” thing when he jumps up on my lap.

    • I will Scorpion.  The problem is my hubby set his minds.  When he wants something, he would bargain to death to me like a little kid.  Then I usually gave in.

On thinking of that, he also bought expensive outdoor/indoor sports equipment - like the kayak, bows, arrows, nordic track, Trek, etc.

I know we have much communication to work on.  Please pray for me.  Sometimes it is very hard to develop a happy medium with my hubby due to his illness.  All I can do is “sigh” and ask constantly for God’s mercy.

I figure it is best for me to talk to you girls or have an animal then having an affair.  It is very hard to explain my situation but I thank you all for prayers and support.

BTW, Miki had a good night and he is ok with the birdies so far.  Of course, I will still watch him.

    • I have a method of getting something that has never failed me.  When i wanted the house sided, i took my husband to look at a couple houses, telling him we needed to upgrade.  When he expressed his apprehension for taking on the larger mortgage, i told him that if we didn’t move, i wanted the house sided.  The siding was done that summer.

I wanted a new fridge with a water dispenser so i began talking about a kitchen remodel.  I’m loving my new refridgerator!

Y‘see...we both win with my method.  I get what i’m looking for and he thinks he’s getting away with placating me!  LOL

    • Yes, fab40 is the alternative to an affair! Getting to say, “he just doesn’t understand me” without the risk of STD’s, pregnancy, or divorce.

Reminds me of Woody Allen saying his favorite part of masturbating is the cuddling afterwards, lol.
