Has anybody tried the new weight loss aid Alli?  I heard that it really works and is safe (approved by the FDA) but that the side effects are awful!!!  Any thoughts or experiences?

    • When I studied clinical nutrition, the professor talked about the ingredients in the prescription medicine Orlistat. Alii is the over the counter version so it’s not as strong but the side effects are basically the same. It prevents the body from absorbing a percentage of fat consumed. In Orlistat it’s 30 percent I think. But the fat passes through quickly so if a high fat meal is consumed there is risk of spontaneous bowel function. I’ve heard that this medication can be effective as long as the user is very careful to keep their fat consumption to a minimum.
      Hope this helps
