It’s a great ministry and it can help many people especially during these hard times.

I can either get a unit of food for myself to help cut my own costs down...then I’m able to save money to help other people OR...you can sponsor (or buy) units of food to give to others you are in need.

Trust me...I’ve seen what you get in a unit and you cannot go out and buy what you get for $30.00.  Plus after you buy a unit you can then add on a box of meat for $20.  You can buy as many units as you want.  You just have to bring a box or basket to put your items in.

Angel Food delivers in our area and you wouldn’t believe the people that participate...and a good many are not getting it for themselves but to help other people.

It’s a wonderful ministry...oh..and I forgot to mention...they do take food stamps as well.  If you don’t have it coming to your area and would like to get it going there..call them and they will help you get it started.

    • I’ve gotten many emails about the ministry, but we can’t find one thats near us...and to drive to God knows where when we‘re really trying to conserve gas..is kind of hard for us to do...Hopefully they will expand to somewhere closer to us...

    • It is a great program. I have never ordered, but have referred a lot of people. Thanks for reminding me about it Mary. The church we used to go to is a drop off. Maybe I could offer to deliver some to people who can't get out. We used to cater and every Friday we delivered free meals to elderly people who were homebound. It was very rewarding, and was a great family 'ministry'. I had to give it up because the catering part got too overwhelming. One week we fixed over 80 lunches. That was way too much as I made all the bread for the sandwiches, as well as the desserts.

    • Soulful....how about calling them and seeing if you can get it started where you live.  I’m sure there are other people who could use it as well.  I think you just have to get it together.  If you can’t do it...see if someone you know might be able to. If they come to my town....they should be able to go anywhere.  You never know...you might bring some real hope to people where you live.

    • I picked up a unit for a friend of mine’s mother...but it wasn’t for her mother but for a family in her small country church that was having a very hard time.  They were so grateful for the food and as I said before...you can’t go out and buy what they get in a unit for $30.00.  And the meat unit ...there is definitely no way to get what you get for $20.00.

    • Thats an idea maryclark..I didn’t think about that..I thought they only go thru churches...I believe hubby said he was going to ask our pastor if he could sponsor it, but our church might be closing down in the new year...yep another victim of the economy..lol

    • Start your own church soulful....and start your own ministry.
Soulful....I’m not being sarcastic or anything but how can your church shut down?  I’m truly asking.  Like will you not have a place to meet or something?

    • We’ll be looking for a new church home in the new year maryclark..I’m ok with that because it wasn’t growing anyway...My kids will miss it because they are in the dance ministry..we’ll just have to find a church that has a dance ministry..or suggest it...

    • OH I see...well I know you will find one.  Just pray about it and he’ll lead you to where you need to be.  And like you said...if they don’t have a dance ministry...START ONE.  And you can see about becoming a drop off place for Angel Food.  Maybe all of this talk about paying it forward..angel food is God’s way of making us all get out and do for others....I just have to believe that.
