Our day has finally wound down and it’s all quiet here in the living room.  The doggie is snoozing at my husband’s feet and both huz and I are on our laptops (aren’t we the romantic couple?).

We were up and ready by 8:30 this morning...let the unwrapping begin!  I think everyone received much of what they’d hoped for, including me.  My son’s “big gift” was the double bass drum pedal he’s been looking at for months.

My oldest daughter was nearly in tears when she opened her pink bowling ball/bag/shoes.

My younger daughter (the “middle child“) didn’t even suspect she was getting the digital camera that Santa brought!  And don’t you just love the muck-luck hat and moccassins she’s modeling?  LOL

My husband has been enjoying his “big gift” for several weeks, now...the 40” LCD TV.  He also found a Wenger watch for me to wrap, as well as a couple of shirts.  I did manage to surprise him with a few smaller things.  He and the kids gave me a Wenger watch, nightie, purple suede gloves, perfume and a few other items.

Berkley received a new dish set that sits in a wooden more chasing his dish around the kitchen!  Santa brought him a few toys and treats, too!

Once everything was opened, i gave huz the job of getting everyone to help him tidy up the living room while i put the french toast casserole in the oven and began the hash browns.  My niece and her boyfriend arrived soon after so we had another round of gifts, then breakfast.  All the kids played Scene It while i did the dishes and began dinner.  We all laughed and played for a couple of hours before Melissa and Ben had to leave for Ben’s parents‘.  Just as i was about to put dinner on the table, my husband’s sister and family surprised us with a call that they were on their way!  We had planned to drive to their house tomorrow but they decided to drive down to my in-law’s in order to save them the 2 hour trip in the snow.  A third round of gifts for the kids and they were off for home.

Dinner was a smash!  I made my homemade Chicken and Biscuits, peas (yuk), corn and a holiday salad (i’ll be blogging about this unbelievable salad soon, so stay tuned for a super simple recipe that will knock your socks off).  More clean-up and i’m finally relaxing.  I’m thinking that the fire needs to be going because i’m getting a chill.  I haven’t stood still long enough today to feel anything but warm!  I think that this year was an excellent Christmas.  I don’t feel that let-down that i have in years past
