(NOTE:  This blog posting started out as a comment on a question left by LAURIEZIEBER.  I just felt that it might be worthwhile to post as a blog as well, since it was so long of a “comment“.)

Initially, I started “blogging” as a means of storing information and decluttering stacks of papers... for example, I created a prayer blog for many prayers that I had collected, a mission blog about a mission that I took to Guatemala, a quote blog about some quotes that I ran into, etc.

Eventually, they became short story collections (probably too risque for here)...and then some just plain old writing.  I love writing and being able to express myself; therefore, I loved exploring possibilities.

Originally, they were all with blogspot.com, which was taken over by Google.  Eventually, I set up a blog site through wordpress.com, then blossomed to media blogsites such as statesman.com, myfoxaustin.com, austin360.com, yahoo360.com, and sooo much more.  I let out more political/activist type blogging through those sites.

Through my work at the National Domestic Violence Hotline, I have been approved to set up a cause page on Facebook and I keep that going on a regular basis.  Although it isn’t truly a blog site, I do keep it going by updating it with postings.

I would love, love, love to take my skills to a level that I actually get paid for writing.  I’m considering writing 2 different books.  One about advocacy work and one about domestic violence.  To do so, I am going to need to break away from some of the extra curricular volunteer work that I am involved with.  Even with writing a book or two, I don’t know a thing about obtaining an agent, etc.

Sheezzz...

I would love a mentor in these aspects.  Do you happen to know one???
