I’ve been plugging away at my computer looking for apartments for my daughter who lives in NYC. What a crazy ride!

My daughter is an intern and works from 10am to 6pm then works a part time job until 10pm...so you see, she doesn’t even have time to look for an aparmtment. She is now subletting and has to be out by Nov. 1.

So anyway, first, I’m looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for her and her friend from college who lives in another state until my daughter finds an apartment. They decide it would be cheaper to rent a 3 bedroom apartment so they find another roommate (I’ll call roommate 1) So I spend time on my computer again and send all the 3 bedroom apartments I can find. Roommate 1 has the time to look so she finds one...but then they all agree it’s too small...and turn it down. Roommate 1 decides to sublet.

Now we‘re back to looking for a 2 bedroom apartment and I get on the computer again to find 2 bedroom apartments. Then college friend finds a 2nd roommate for them. So...you know who gets back on the computer again and starts looking for 3 bedroom apartments again because daughter deleted all the ones I sent her previously.

The 2nd roommate has time to look...but she finds a 2 bedroom for 3 girls..she decides that the other 2 girls can share a room. My daughter didn’t want to spend that much money to share a room. The other two girls wanted to live in a certain area that my daughter didn’t really want to be anyway...so being the sweet girl she is, she tells her college friend to decide who she’d like to live with. College friend picks 2nd roommate.

Now...my daughter is left with no roommates, 3 days to move out of her subletted apartment and no leads on affordable studios. I’m back on the computer looking for studio apartments and rented rooms.

    • Thanks Annie..actually that’s how they found roommate 1 and roommate 2. I was also looking for people who needed roommates in the area she wants to be in...I emailed some of that information to her as well. Thanks for your insight!
