Does it really matter how a person looks on TV or in your personal life?  I get so tired of looks being emphasized more that the person’s character or knowledge. Today, I was on the The View’s IMBD message board.  There was a comment about a woman named Maria B (not sure of the last name).  The message stated something about her being pretty.  My first reaction was “I wonder who she is“, and the second was “Why are her looks that important?  I finally saw “The View“, and saw that she talked about the country’s financial situation.  I just didn’t know why the leap was made from her knowledge to her looks.  That’s not the only situation that jumps out, but that is the most current one.  Women do it, Men do it, gender doesn’t matter.    I think we as women become more insecure, at least some of us do, when men focus on how other women look.  As for me, I feel uncomfortable when the guy that I am with talks a lot about  other women being attractive or talks negatively about them.  And if guys ask me what I think of other women.  That really sucks!!  I think they want free range to give their opinion about other women. I guess all of this talk about  looks, makes me more insecure about myself.  Maybe that is the problem that I have to work on.  It shouldn’t matter what is said about other people if I a strong woman.  Ok, I got it.  Have a great day, Cynthia

    • It always troubles me when people come up to you when you’ve lost weight and say “your looking fabulous” .. actually I looked fabulous before just had more of me ..

I actually want to say - what when you saw me before did I look gross ......

    • As much as I want to think that looks don’t matter, in my heart of hearts, it does. I’ve been wanting to post a YouTube video of my making chocolate on my website and the thought of being in front of any camera makes me cringe.

    • We are all visual creatures. Men more so than women. I’m comfortable and confident in my skin. I guess I’m not too  bothered when people notice a change in me I just say with great enthusiasm what it is I’m doing and sometimes I pretend I didn’t hear what they said, change the conversation or say I gotta go, moving to fast to chat.

    • Unfortunately, looks are very important. Fortunately, you have very little to worry about judging by your photo.
People are willing to hire a person who looks together, has a nice appearance, and looks capable of doing the job. If it is a choice between two people equally qualified, they are going to choose the person with the most appealing looks, it’s not necessarily right, but it is done everyday.
If a woman looks strong and self assured, she takes care of her appearance. That’s the woman they are going to seek for employment. It’s the way of the world—honestly.
It’s sort of the same as shopping for a used car—we immediately go to the “pretty car“.
