Beauty Secrets - Whats Yours ?

So many beauties here on Fab40, I was just wondering if you have any secrets that work for you.

Mine is Witch Hazel, Thayers Rose formula from GNC, I also like the lavendar but love the Rose...

I love the smell and the way my skin feels... I use it all over.

My daughter uses it too.

Whats your secrets youd like to share ?

    • I never go to bed wearing make-up, regardless of how tired I am. And I always use a serum before I apply my moisturizer. Oh, I try to never touch my face throughout the day unless my hands are clean. And I smile alot!

    • I love anything Neutrogena. My mom taught me at a very young age to never rub my face. And, it you‘re putting on foundation or lotion to always use an upward motion.

    • I’d heard about witch hazel as an astringent.  I can stick to a toner or an astringent for about 1 night, then it’s too tedious and ugh!  just too much!  I like a lot of different mud masks like Borghese, Oil of Olay’s, and peel-off cucumber masks once a week.  Yeah, it’s a hassle, but, AAAAALLLL of my “secrets” are proudly displayed on my bathroom shelf, where I could probably fit MAYBE one more jar of “miracle crap.”  But the gorgeous husband, ONLY - repeat - ONLY uses whatever body lotion I buy him on HIS face!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      WTF???

    • Bobbi I have been using Thayers Lavender Witch hazel for about two months since you told me about it. I really like it.
I wash my face twice a day but tend to need a deeper cleansing. I can’t use anything strong so Thayers works for me. I’ve notice fewer breakouts.
I don’t use a lot of makeup but I tried some samples from TerraFirma Cosmetics and really like their Hydrasilk foundation in Caramel.
I have combination skin and it seems to control my oily areas and makes my pores less noticeable.
I try to eat what I feel my body requires most times.

I think my most important beauty regimen is daily meditation. It keeps me grounded and keeps the stress away.

I walk, do toning exercises and stretching to stay strong balanced and flexible.

    • Tracy, I tried Vaseline for years but couldn’t understand why it didn’t last very long.  I find it does the opposite & dries my feet much quicker!  I am now on my 6th jar of good old Palmer’s Cocoa Butter and that is lux!  Willing to try it?  Bet you staaaaay!

    • Do you know why the vaseline doesn’t moisturize?  It has Petroleum (Mineral Oil) in it—-like the gas you put in your car (just refined).  That creates a barrier on your skin so you continually have to use moisturizer because you‘re only hydrated when you put a new layer on (the underneath gets drier and drier).

    • I am a devotee of the skincare products from H2O+.  Water-based, oil-free but very moisturizing.  Over the years, I’ve tried everything (really) but their stuff seems to work best for me.

I’m also a fan of the True Blue Spa and Aromatherapy body products from Bath & Bodyworks.

    • Hi Ladies,

Would have to say my favorite Beauty Secret is Argan Oil, great for skin, hair and nails.

Argan Oil is a legendary oil that’s rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and grown organically in Morocco.

Argan oil is known to have many treatment benefits, including hydrating and nourishing skin, as well as toning and firming. It’s gentle enough to use on all skin types and is believed to help with skin conditions including acne.

Here is just a sampling of ways to use Argan Oil:
•reduces visible scars left by acne or chicken pox
      •moisturized dry skin
      •reduces blemishes
      •slows the appearance of wrinkles
      •helps protect skin elasticity
      •strengthens brittle nails
•restores remarkable shine to hair, cares for scalp to advance hair growth, and helps to mend split ends. Perfect for us suffering from over processed hair!

    • Anytime, robinesque!  estatic  I had no idea what was going on and wish someone had told me when I was a little younger so I could’ve avoided some of the aging mineral oil causes (and some of the breakouts!).

    • A professional exfoliation with extractions is a must at least a couple times a year and a woman must use a good skin care system . _You've got to get rid of that grey, ashy top layer that's nothing but dead, flat skin cells (they acutally look like corn flakes under a microscope).

Using a system that has products that works together is key_ - many who use a cleanser that’s different than their day creme that’s different than their night creme leads to conflicts because some products are actually working against each other!

Using products that strip your face of their natural oils (some have already been mentioned here in this thread) leaves the opportunity for free radicals, pollution and bacteria to enter your pores. Not washing your face at night allows free radicals to eat at the sebum and steal parts of your cell’s dna causing skin damage that’s irreversable. It’s never too late to commit to taking care of your skin, even after years of abuse.

I’ve used popular direct sales systems and found good things about all of them. I switched to Strivectin and loved it (pretty pricy though) until I discovered SeneGence and their skin care system. It’s super simple, priced right and my skin has never, ever looked better, honest to GOD.

I also use an eyelash growth accelerator at night (Ardell makes a good one and it’s cheap) but just like working out or using a skin care system, you must do it every day in order for it to work!

I also use sugar, olive oil and essentials oils for an all over body scrub...my skin looks 20 years younger!
