As John Berger famously stated in his work Ways of Seeing, “Men look at women. Women watch themselves being looked at.”

The loophole of the fat acceptance movement is that it begs the question, what about being healthy? After all, a recent...

yes, Tera is an amazing woman and wonderful source for another perspective.... another voice and a lot of laughs too.

Thanks for the tip about your group—- I popped over and joined, kinda tight on time tonight, but hope to get active there soon (homecoming week at kid’s H.S. this week)

That looks like a great group—- thank you again
and I hope that oyu will consider becoming more active on the HipMix site as well—- your thoughts and opinions are wonderful - the site is not just for belly dancers that are established, but interested peeps, beginners, etc - who knows - you may find a teacher near you too ;)

    • I love your insight. Belly Dancing is near and dear to my heart. For years I belly dance, from 6th grade until I was 32. then life intervened. Over time when I was able I went  back to dancing. Overtime I also gained wieght. while belly dancing is easier with the extra wieght I feel very conscious of it. i have been dancing mainly at home. I want to get back out in the world and I will when my foot heals some more. This article was really well timed for me

kmarie, don't you worry about those extra pounds -- you know better than that ;)

I hope that you also (when you may have a little free time) look around the website www.HipMix.net some more.  Let me know your thoughts.  My team and I have been working hard to devlop meaningful and helpful stories for belly dancers.... well, really for everyone.

Would love to see some pictures of you “back in the day”  and look forward to seeing some when you‘re up and running again
