Surviving on one income until my husband finds another job:

*Leftovers get eaten or you cook just enough to ensure there’s no waste. It’s really amazing how much food we used to toss.

*Favorite old movies from the DVD collection get revisited, as opposed to buying new ones, or renting.

*Coffee, when it sits too long, gets reheated in the microwave, and there’s no such thing as Starbucks anymore.

*My cats share one can of wet food per day, and eat dry food the rest of the day. Simon, my little piggy boy, needs to lose weight anyway.

*Firestarters for the day long fire get split in two so the box lasts twice as long.

*I don’t really need that new pair of jeans, do I?

*Thank God we can TIVO Jay Leno shows—we need a good laugh at least once a day!

*I realize my middle class home is a mansion and that I have plenty after watching a news program on starving people in some economically depressed country.

*We share in the reality of thousands of Americans who lost their jobs over the last few months and are sadly grateful that the only “up” side to all this is that prices are so low, gas so cheap, it’s easier to survive.
