Turning forty a number of years ago, it suddenly dawned on me, that the years were going to fly by very quickly, whether or not I did something with them, or had anything to show for them.

“What should I do?” I wondered, as I wrestled with that question, day after day.

“Time to broaden your horizons,” I finally told myself.

That very same day, I enrolled in an interest level course in ceramics, even though I was a bit reluctant to go back to school. I knew that painting figurines was something I had always wanted to do.

The very first figurine that I painted, was entitled “The Little Rose Girl“. I was absolutely thrilled, when I saw it for the first time, as it was beautiful!

Taking ceramics proved to be a truly wonderful experience for me. Painting figurines is something that I will always love.

If you are forty, think about your own life and what you would really like to do. This is an age, where one’s life can take a turn for the better. It is a time of transition, but remember that transition is good.

Change is never something that we need to fear, even if it does involve a certain amount of risk taking.

Is there something that you would really love to do? Go ahead and do it! Take that very first step and you will be glad that you did!

    • you are so right, Diane. This is a time in our lives when many of us have children who are off doing their own thing, we are either looking toward retirement or at a point of haing a little extra discretionary and we’ve learned to budget our time so there’s a little something for ourselves. A great time to look at what we’ve always wanted to do and take the initiative.

      Good blog
