This week my church has started a program...Celebration of Hope. This program was designed to make everyone aware of the poverty that exists in the world 50% of the world’s population eats on less than 2 dollars a day. The challenge of this program is for YOU to do the same thing...Solidarity menu each day for 5 days. This will allow you to understand and relate to 50% of the people in the world who are hungry. My daughter and I are doing this program starting today. The menu is easy...Plain oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast. 1 cup white rice 1 cup beans, a piece of chicken or fish the size of a nugget and small bits of carrots, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, squash or broccoli. Tap water only to drink. At the end of 5 days...you will have a new new appreciation for your life and also what you can do to help the hungry!
Next week my daughter and I will pack seeds along with 15,000 others to ship to Simbabwe families to plant family gardens. From there, they will be able to eat and sell what they grow.
How good it feels to be able to relate and to help.

    • This is a really nice idea to try. So many of us take for granted we have enough to eat. Sometimes I watch the food network or the travel channel with the “mega food” shows like eating contests and restaurants with the biggest burgers on earth and I wonder what people who go hungry every day of their lives would think of us if they saw these shows on television. Good work you‘re doing with the seed packets going to needy families.
