On June 1st, I’m scheduled to have my left knee replaced.   Two knee scrapes with lateral releases, a kneecap replacement and a torn meniscus later this will be my 5th and hopefully FINAL surgery and will end the health nightmare that started back in 2002 when I fell on my kneecap during a dance lesson but has become more intense since 2006.  We all knew this was coming, however; the insurance company wanted to wait until I am 50, hence the need for so many surgeries to try and mickey mouse my knee until that time.  Sadly, there isn’t anything left to mickey mouse.  While in my head I know this will solve my issues (at least on this leg for the next 15-20yrs) my heart keeps telling my not to get my hopes up that something else will happen once they open me up yet again.  Anyways, I feel better already gettingthis out!  Wish me luck!  Thanks

    • ohhhhWOW! my prayers are with you. I’ve had two knee surgeries on my right knee and the doctor has said I’ll eventually need it for the right and the last straw may be me needing a knee replacement Lord knows I pray I don’t have to have that! You’ll be fine keeping you in thoughts and prayers.

    • I have a friend that has just had her 2nd hip replacement.  She did the left one earlier this year; now she’s on her right replacement.  She is feeling like a bionic woman now.

I’m facing surgeries on both arms this summer as a result of an auto accident on November 26th.  Ughghgh.  Not looking forward to that knowing that I’ll have to start PT all over again.

I’m having knee problems on my left knee.  I know that a replacement on that eventually.  Hopefully, I’ll end up feeling like a bionic woman like my friend. :)

      You’ll do fine!!

    • Thanks, ladies!  yes, Laurie - I’m the one you told about your dad’s.  I didn’t realize he is having both done at the same time!  Wow! It’s gotten to the point where i can’t wait any longer.

Kathryn, I’m so sorry to hear about you having to have surgery on both your arms - that stinks!  And from the sound of it is seems like you’ve been through the rehab already which I know is NOT fun!  I’ve had teh rehab from my kneecap replacement and am so NOT looking forward to doing it again.  But it is a means to an end and we will both feel and be better once its over, right?

Thanks so much for the support!  I really appreciate it!

      Lori
