“Let’s take a long walk, around the park, after dark, find a spot for us to spark...” - Songtress Jill Scott

Today I reflected on my best date ever that happened about three years ago.  Ironically, this date did not involve dinner, candlelight, drinks, touching and/or sex. In fact, this date was extremely platonic and consisted of street walking at night.  Let me explain...

A few years ago my guy friend (that I had a serious crush on at the time) came to visit me at my hotel in DC.  For about 20 minutes he sat in my hotel room and we both talked about the beauty of DC during the spring season.  During the conversation he suggested that we go for a walk and see some historic sites in the city.

Although it was almost 11:00 at night I agreed to the journey.  I decided to put on a pair of sneakers and off we went. We had a GREAT time!  We walked for hours from (11:00p.m. until 5:00a.m.) down the streets of DC and visited historic markers, marveled at unique German architecture, witnessed the changing position of the moon, laughed at tall tales, and talked about politics, life and love.  The interesting thing is that we never kissed, hugged or even touched.

This particular man and I have remained friends throughout the years.  Not long after that special date he showed himself to NOT be a serious candidate for a committed relationship.  However, this lovely all-night walk around the city of DC was one of my best dates ever.
