Here’s my horoscope for today that I just now read:
GEMINI You could find yourself sulking or worse if things don't go your way today. There's more than one way around that, though — you may want to try lowering your expectations temporarily!

And oh boy oh boy was I sulking this morning when hubby made some sarcastic remarks about the Christmas decorating!  But we worked that out.

I stripped down the living room to bare walls, did some cleaning that hasn’t been done in awhile so I can start with a blank slate for Christmas decorating.

We’ve got delightful weather today.  Some pretty high temps for December.  So I did what any normal person of the North would do.  I hauled my decorations down out of the usually frigid attic, and I went to do the outdoor decorating.

I do this almost every year.  I pick I nice warm day and throw some lights at the cedar tree, and if time and energy allow and the weather holds (like today) I put ornaments all over said cedar tree.  And then I stand back and just enjoy my outdoor Christmas tree.

And every dark December night when I come home from work, I love the lights of my outdoor tree being the first thing I see as I come over the hill, while on down the street, the Christmas decorations on the street lights sway gently in the wind.  It’s warm and welcoming even in the bitterest cold.

And then Christmas is done and over and January is here and it’s 10 below zero and I have to take those #.^xx% ornaments off and bring them in and pick up the ones the wind has blown off.  And one year I was digging wind blown ornaments out of the snow drift across the street.

But, I love to decorate for Christmas, and as of this moment, I’ve got my vintage ornament wreath hung, the outdoor tree finished, the entry way door wreath hung and one nativity put up.

Also, we used to have a group for posting photos of our Christmas trees.  Anyone know how/where to find that?

    • Oh, and I was handing things down out of the attic to hubby, I handed him the tree topper (in the original box for safe keeping).  Gave it to him upside down, it fell out, shattered all over everything—glass, glitter, everywhere.  It’s been a bugger to clean up.  The piece that embedded itself in my foot was real easy to find. tongue out

Got your tree up yet?  Halls decked, yule log lit, solstice fires burning?

Tell me your adventures in tree trimmery!

    • Sounds like you are in the Christmas spirit Melanie!

We don’t have a tree yet and we probably won’t for a while.  Probably in a few weeks, but it’s always been like that.  The only decorations I have Christmas-wise right now are the two Nutcrackers I bought.

    • So far I have decorated the front windows with some soft green bulbs on the candlestick holders and put a pretty green wreath in the middle window which has pinecones, artificial oranges and berries.

Can’t do much at the moment because hub is away with the guys on his annual trip and I really need his help.  We still have the lights to put up on the side living room windows, he has to hang a curtain rod for me so I can put up my sheer curtains, we will be going to cut a tree down at a farm, hopefully next weekend, still have to decorate my family room window, make some natural ornaments for the birds (using scooped out oranges as a cup to fill seed and cranberries), etc..etc..estatic

    • Hi Tuliplady, I finally got mine started and finished up this weekend. I barely threw my tree up last year because I had just lost my Mother and just wasn’t feeling it. I have been unable to find any of my decorations! I was very upset and hurt as my decorations are a collection of things my mother has given me over the years. Couldn’t even find my wreaths that I put out side. I still don’t have a clue where any of it’s at!
I decided to go out and buy a new tree, decorations, wreaths and all! I felt pretty good putting up all new this year.
Like you, I’m also washing curtains, blinds and wiping the walls down some.
Feels like it’s going to be a great holiday season heart

    • And to help get me in the Christmas mood, I got out my George Strait chrismtas cd last night and put it in my alarm clock so that every morning I’ll wake up to George singing me Christmas carols.
