We all know that Dwayne Johnson is a former professional wrestler who became very popular with such taglines as "Can you smell what The Rock's got cooking?" and "Know your role", and set many records with his achievements.

And there's no doubt that he is one good-looking dude with his admirable (read: HAWT) physique and killer smile. He's even grown as an actor before our very eyes, progressing from roles in “The Scorpion King” to “Be Cool” to “Gridiron Gang” and, most recently, “The Game Plan“.

But did you know:

  • He is of half Black Canadian (on his father's side) and half Samoan (his mother) heritage.
  • His maternal grandmother was one of very few female professional wrestling promoters, running Polynesian Pacific Pro Wrestling from 1982 until her husband's death in 1988.
  • He has lived in several states including Hawaii, California (where he was born) and Pennsylvania
  • He lived for a short while in New Zealand where his mother guaranteed he was exposed to his Polynesian roots.
  • He was offered several collegiate football scholarships but chose to attend and play for the University of Miami. After an injury, he was replaced by (current NFL star) Warren Sapp.
  • He graduated from University of Miami in 1995 with a degree in Criminology.
  • Earned the highest ever salary for a debut starring role in The Scorpion King at $5.5 million.
  • He comes from a long line of professional wrestlers, including a trio of uncles currently known as The Wild Samoans.
  • He attributes his initial success in Hollywood to the night he hosted Saturday Night Live with fellow wrestlers Triple H, The Big Show and Mick Foley.
  • He had a guest role on "That 70's Show" where he played his father Rocky Johnson, a professional wrestler from the 70's.

Accomplishments/Achievements:

  • In 2006 he founded "The Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation" which benefits at-risk and terminally ill children.
  • Together with his ex-wife, ss noted for having made the largest charitable donations to the University of Miami's various renovation projects and will have an athletic facility renamed in his honor.
  • In 2004, he was bestowed with the noble title of Seiuli by Samoan King Malietoa Tanumafili. (Note: I cannot find a reference as to what Seiuli means. If you are aware of a resource, please share it here)
  • Was featured in the 2007 Guinness Book of World Records for the salary he garnered for The Scorpion King
  • Presented the Best Visual Effects award at the (2008) 80th Academy Awards
  • Was nominated for a 2008 Nickelodeon's Choice Award for  Favorite Movie Actor  for The Game Plan, but lost to Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End)
  • World Wrestling Federation | World Wrestling Entertainment
    —WCW Championship (2 times)1[114]
    —WWF/E Championship (7 times)²[115]
    —WWF Intercontinental Championship (2 times)[116]
—WWF Tag Team Championship (5 times) – with Mankind (3), The Undertaker (1), and Chris Jericho (1)[117]
    —Royal Rumble (2000)[3]
    —Sixth Triple Crown Champion
  • When he retired from professional wrestling, he held the Undisputed Champion title (which, even if just a popularity rating, is pretty impressive!)

And now, for a little eye candy... estatic
