Today I went to T J Max and while standing in line the customer next to me asked for the Manager.  The Manager came and asked can he help.  The customer had a little girl standing with her and told the child to speak, she did not and held down her head.  The mother continued and told the Manager that she was at the store yesterday and her daughter took up something (she had it in the plastic bag still).  She said she brought her back so she can return it.  All the Manager did was watch the child and said THANK YOU.  I saw a look of horror on the mother’s face and also the cashier.  The mother to me was looking for him to say something other than just thank you to the child.  Anyhow, we were going outside and we locked eyes so I mouthed to her “can I talk to her” she nodded.  I gave the child a little talk about stealing, peer pressure and consequences such as jail time. The little girl is only 10 years old. The mother wanted some reinforcement for her actions, she looked so lost that all the manager said was thank you.  In some instances it needs a village to help to raise a child.
I commended the mother for taking the stance she took also.
