Yesterday I found out the third phase of our subdivision is to be auctioned off on February 21st. I was shocked, surprised, and a little angry to say the least. Homes that ranged from $199,000 to $240,000 were now going up for bid ranging from $67,500 to $87,500.  Goodness, we just bought our home 2-1/2 years ago, were they nuts. Then I felt sorry for the people that just moved in their purchased homes last weekend. I'm sure they paid near full price.

However, after thinking about it I thought, "Wait a minute, this is a great opportunity. We can purchase a house, have a small mortgage, rent it out, and have a really good cash flow." So now, instead of being angry I plan to attend the open house tomorrow to find out how I can purchase another property.

This economy is horrible and terrific all at the same time. I mean really, when could I have ever purchased a new home at such an inexpensive price. I would be "crazy" not to take advantage of this awesome deal. Yes, I'm sad an auction is happening in my neighborhood. However, God works in mysterious ways. Instead of counting the auction as a curse, I've decided to turn this lemon into some refreshing lemonade.

What about you, do you turn lemons into lemonade?
