All my children are grown and as of August, I’m an empty nester. So of course I thought that I would be just fine and I adamantly denied getting a pet.

Two days after arriving back home from evacuating a stray dog made it’s way to my house. I kept her. She stayed tied up outside, highly visible for the whole world to see including her owner if they ever came around. I wished her owner would come by soon, but it didn’t happen.

After the third day I named her Sheba. She is beautiful, loving and even tempered. We went for a walk every evening. I loved her back. And just about the time I was considering bringing her into the house, what do you think happened?

Friday, November 21. We were walking our routine walk when I vehicle stopped to talk and yes, it was her owner. I don’t care to go over the whole conversation, but I tell you I know they were telling the truth about ownership. I let her go.

Sheba and I were together for two months. My spirit is longing, my heart is broken, and I don’t really want to replace her unless I can have a puppy from her.

I’m wondering what God is planning for me next.
