Love it

I have lived dressing up since I was a child. I would spend hours clicking around in my mothers high heels while wearing her red lipstick smudged all over my teeth and face. It was heaven. My love for playing dress up has never left me. I still enjoy picking out my outfits and even my hair.... Yes I said hair. I have a small collection of pony tails and wiglets to create a look. So much fun. But, since I find myself laid off and on a strict budget, I have had to change my shopping habits. Thrift stores have become a very good source of stylish picks at a very affordable price. Just a few weeks ago I bought a beautiful  chiffon gown and several Eddie Bauer dresses and a pair of Kenneth Cole shoes for a dollar a piece! Yes.... One dollar. For twenty dollars I had my car packed so full of stuff that I could barely close the hatch on my PT Cruiser. The secret is this... Shop at thrift stores, Goodwills, etc, that are nearby golf courses or high end neighborhoods. The key is to purchase things that will stay in style. And, if you find a piece that you just can’t live without, then look at it this way....you have a minimal investment.  It’s a great way to shop and I, for one, will continue to shop thrift stores even after I become gainfully employed, which I hope is soon. Let menknow if anyone else out there has money saving ideas related to style!!

    • I donate to thrift stores and get a great feeling that my belongings that I loved at one time will find their way into someone’s heart..we even donated a beautiful set of furniture, a country themed style and some family grabbed that up quick.estatic

    • Marya1961,
I’ll bet they grabbed your stuff up. That is awesome! I will never forget what a friend of mine said when my oldest child was born. I had been very sick and unhealthy throughout the entire pregnancy and couldn’t work. I was alone and on welfare when he was born and my friend brought me a lot of things such as diapers, outfits, changing table, diaper genie, and many other items. I was grateful, but I worried because I thought she wanted to sell me the items....I was wrong. She said she knew how hard it was and that if she had not had gifts of love, she couldn’t have made it either. The only requirement she had was when I was finished with the changing table and crib and those type things that I pass them to someone who needed them. I did just that. I have been blessed so many times over and I feel that it’s all due to giving back.
