    • I can back up that statement about the fountain sodas. One of my first jobs as a 20-something was assistant manager at a fast food chain. The syrup containers were usually kept in the basement, and the hose attached to them would occasionally get gunked up. The spigot was bad enough to clean, but the hose was dee-skusting! I never buy fountain sodas because I don’t know when the last time the spigot or the hose was cleaned or whether customers before me washed their hands before touching the buttons or that accidental swipe of the spigot as they try to stop it from overflowing the cups.

Never mind making them mad; they tend to wipe their noses, scratch places and cover sneezes and coughs even with the gloves on. I was overruled by the manager when a tray of burgers hit the floor one morning. The floor was muddy from all of the employees coming in, and who know what they walked through to get there especially since there was a subway on the corner. I saw it and said dump all the burgers in the garbage. He said, no! send them through the machine again, that would kill whatever. Needless to say none of us ate burgers for over a month because of that.

Yep, good idea to wash the tops of ALL cans, even those you need to use an opener on.

    • Completely sickening!..when my hub contracted poisoning 20 years ago from a burger that apparently was contaminated, that is all it took for me to change everything about our diets..luckily, hand-washing and proper kitchen clean-up was always important to me..too bad, these fast food chains care very little about their patrons...SVU’s show last night  touched on that subject..filth in the meat packing plants.frown

    • I haven’t eaten at a fast food restaurant in years. A year or two ago, I read about how a guy sent his steak back at a chain restaurant only to recieved a new steak with a very distinct black curly hair. You guessed it! Eeeww! The cook is now serving jail time.
