Fish oils are amazing, plain and simple!  From lowering Triglycerides to to slowing the buildup of atherosclerotic plaque, this amazing food supplement does wonders! Omega 3’s are essential fatty acids that humans need for optimum health but cannot produce on their own, you have to get them through your diet.1

Omega 3’s play a crucial role in brain function, and reduces the risk of death, heart attack, dangerous abnormal heart rhythms and strokes in people with known cardiovascular disease,It has also been found to slightly lower high blood pressure. Research has now shown Omega 3’s may reduce inflammatory response in people with arthritis! 2This is excellent news for the estimated 46 million, (nearly 1 in 5 adults), who suffer from this debilitating disease.3

Other excellent sources of Omega 3’s are Walnuts, which are rich in Vitamin E and minerals. Just a few of these on a salad or added to oatmeal or yogurt will provide you with much needed Omega 3’s.4. Another new-found Omega 3 food is flax seed. This delicious nutritional seed has a taste that will remind you of pecans. They taste amazing in yogurt, oatmeal, sprinkled on top of salads, as well as added to soups, stews, breads, etc.Flax seed is best whole, and ground as needed, to keep the oils fresh and to provide the optimum nutrients. They provide fiber and beneficial phytoestrogens in addition to healthy fats. Flax oil goes rancid quickly; flax seeds do not.5

Should you choose to use an Omega 3 Fish Oil supplement, be sure to not use cod liver oil. It often contains too much Vitamin A, one of the few fat soluble vitamins your body stores rather than excretes. Regular fish oils or ground flax seeds are safest. When asked for a recommendation on brands of fish oils to purchase of the hundreds available, noted nutritionist and author, Dr. Andrew Weil has stated, ” ...Nordic Naturals, Zone, and Weil Lifestyle.“6

Try adding some of these life-giving, nutritious foods and supplements to your daily diet. Your health will be your reward!

**Note: If you are on a medication such as Coumadin (Warfarin), Plavix, or an asprin regimen, you should consult your primary care physician before using Omega 3’s due to possible interaction.
