Okay,
I have actually been working on the computer today!
After having our inaugural master mind group meeting last night, I decided it was time for change.
One thing I think we can all do to help one another is to follow each other's blogs. I added banners to my blog today to support Fab40 (which I think everyone should do) and I investigated ways to get it 'out there' in cyberland. So, lets all post our blogs, and sign up for updates. Add one another to our blogrolls, and support one another.

I am contemplating deleting some of my older personal ‘update the family’ posts. I’d like to hear what you ladies think.

Sharing Hope,

Dee Dee

    • well then, it is high time you did Lu! :) You can 'push' the blog from blogspot or wordpress to other sites like facebook, myspace, probably here too (but I haven't figured it out yet) using feedburner. I learned alot today - although I still have a long way to go.
You can post your website though, and we can add links to our blogs... and then when you get your blog set up, we can connect those too.

    • absolutely - humorous blogs are the best. Mine are boring. LOL It is a free way to develop a following, an audience, and ultimately clients for your candle business. You establish a level of human-ness by being ‘real’ with your blog. Go for it!

    • Dee Dee,

Thank you for placing our Site badge on your site.

I made the link clickable on your post, you forgot to do that. PLEASE everyone remember to get your links clickable, we are all lazy...unless it’s clickable no one will copy and paste it into the browser.

After our session yesterday I was up all night thinking and brainstorming. There were three of us...me, myself and I it was very productive. LOL  So this morning I’ve gathered my webteam and discussed my new idea. It can be implemented, but I need your feedback.

      Here is my thoughts:

I posted a blog on blogger two years ago, I kept posting, and in the last two years not one comment, NOT ONE...terrible, so if I don’t promote it, no one sees it or comments on it...what’s the point of having it?.

When Cynthia, the Choclotier started a blog, on blogger and announced it on Fab40 guess what happened? three people commented, and where did they come from? from Fab40. As our community here grows, it’s so much easier to promote your blogs within the community, than start something new on blogger or wordpress, etc. where you are literally one in a millions.   So after I tossed and turned my only obstacle was what about the bloggers that are hopping to get money from advertisers, what do we do with them?

So I thought and thought, and I think that we can provide a place within each members profile where they can create their own pages, posts their blogs AND their own advertisers.  This way when you post a blog you already have a following, if your content is interesting, other members are forwarding it to their friends, and commenting, you get on the home page of Fab40 for new members to see, all that generates awareness and branding without getting lost among millions.

We can even provide a choice for our members to have a url with fabulously40.com or a generic url that is not going to turn away people who are under 40.

What do you think?  I’m good with criticism, so bring it on girlfriends

    • I like the idea of making it a community effort. Just like so many other things, the market for paid blogging is extremely saturated, so fresh ideas are always needed. I’m just not entirely clear on the concepts you are proposing.

Are you saying that we can build our own mini-websites/blogsites under a fab40 umbrella? Kind of like geocities and/or homestead did back in the early days of building personal homepages?

And, what do you mean by bloggers adding their own advertisers? I can’t get my sleep-deprived brain around that one, lol.

I truly appreciate your efforts, Yana. Maybe it takes a village to raise a blog! ;)

    • I guess what I proposing, is that you have your “OWN” blog  here on Fab40 (or if you want to use a different url...something more generic)

So instead of going to blogspot, or blogger you create it here around the community, and you promote it just like you would your blogspot, wordpress, etc. You are starting with a base of people that get to know you through community and are interested in reading and commenting on your blogs.  If you are looking to make money from advertisers, we will allow members to embed their own advertisers within their blog posts.

Members can cross promote and get all the benefits with minimum effort and not get lost in the crowd.

Does that make sense? or because I’m sleep deprived, hungry, cranky and tired this only makes sense to me?

Let me know what you guys think.
      Y

    • Well, I’ve had dinner now (even if it was just salad and doritos, lol) and I’m seeing a bit of a clearer picture.

For me, since I own my own domain, I imagine I would handle a blog here much the same that I already do, whereas some of my stuff is duplicated at both sites, although each one (my blogs here and my personal blogsite) will have it’s own content, too.

I think this idea actually incorporates several of the ideas that have been tossed around here the last couple of days, such as trying to buy from each other first if we find a fit for a product or service need we already have.

It also upholds the community spirit by promising to pass on links to blogs we think our other friends or family might enjoy.

If I’m understanding it properly, I like the idea very much.

    • Me too! I have another meeting in 6 minutes so my thoughts will have to be compressed and succinct and in that I am challenged. LOL
I am more thinking that we need to have connectability here, so that we can use feedburner or whatever to push our blogs to all our different communities. If we had that capability here, then I would be more than happy for Fab40 to be my homebase. I am not fond of adsense or embedded advertising, but I do like to have badges or banners to share things I like. I was even wondering if you might not be able to incorporate that into Fab40 (adding carefully chosen affiliate websites after approaching them about reciprocal links.)
Forgive me if there are misspelled words - no time to spell check (another nice feature that could be added!)

      Sharing Hope,

      Dee Dee

    • FYI... It took me a while to remember how I’d done it, but if you have facebook, and you have an external blog/website, you can actually customize your facebook notes to receive an abbreviated feed of your blog from your external site.

You can also download the various toolbars to stumble, digg, twitter, etc., with just a few clicks.

You can visit www.shareaholic.com to get a pretty comprehensive add-on for your toolbar.

    • I’m having serious problems with comments today. Sometimes I’ll add a new comment to a thread and it will overwrite a comment I already posted.

Or, only part of a comment will appear after I refresh my screen, even though I saw the whole thing after clicking ‘comment‘.

I really think I’m losing it, lol.

      And I don’t know about the red x, i don’t see one!

No pictures. I typed a bunch of stuff, but I think I used an invisible font, ‘cause all I see is 3 exclamation points!

A trio of those is probably super secret internet code for a red x.

    • Heather,

The lingo is killing me... stumble, digg, twitter.  Is that something that happens in Bambi with the little rabbit?  LOL
I’m seriously challenged with the “how to” of web building or setting up an external blog.
But like I wrote earlier on our master mind blog, I like the idea of working through Fab40. And I appreciate all that Yana is doing.
I’m going to have to go take a class just to talk about it.
      I see a red “x” too!
Did you say that you got a nap or just some sort of dinner? LOL I’m starting to yawn!  No nap for me after last night and I had the grand baby for several hours.  No making me think right now please.  YIKES!

    • That’s why I quit trying to make things clickable!! I thought it was just me.

When I’m blogging here, if I click any of the little ‘html helpers’ (link, text, etc.) it doubles my post each time. Just like happymomma’s above.

I’m so glad it isn’t just me!!

    • Ladies, you crack me up...

Let me address Heather posting problem, red “X“,  etc.

When you guy post LOL and incorporate “” Or ((( )))) it messes up with HTML that we have incorporated with the test editor.

To make link clickable, simple add http:// in front of your website and it will work.
