Today the girls and I did something we haven’t done since we moved here.  We went Geocaching. Geocaching is like a treasure hunt using a GPS. On the Geocaching web site  (www.geocaching.com/) you can find coordinates of caches hidden by others all over the world, and by using the most simple GPS and some hints you find these hidden caches.  Some of them (micro-cache) are small (usually 35mm film containers), and contain only a sheet of paper you can sign.  Larger ones may contain small items (like to toy cars etc.), and you are welcome to take something and leave something else instead.  There are traveling bugs which you take from one cache and place in the next cache you find.  It’s a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to motivate kids to hike.  Each cache is ranked by how difficult it is to find, and by the its terrain.

Today we were talking about Geocaching and decided to check the website and see if there are any caches in our area (Caesarea in Israel).  We were delighted to find some really close by, so we went looking and found one.  There aren’t too many in Israel, and we are thinking of placing some of our own.  So next time you visit Israel, if you see a family with 4 girls walking around hiding stuff, come and say hi, it’s probably us...

    • I’ve never heard of that, but how fun!!

Great way to stay fit (or get there!), enjoy some quality family time, see the country, wow... I’m just love the idea.

    • This sounds so cool!  I’m heading to the site to see if anyone has hidden anything around here.  My kids are always whining that they‘re bored.  If they aren’t moving and going, they‘re “so boooooooooooooored!”
