Some of you know I’ve given up my business and I’m going back to school. The commercial kitchen was expensive. I discovered that I didn’t really want to have a partner in my work. And, doing business in Hawaii was nothing like doing business in my little county up in Washington State. So, I’ve hung up the chef’s coat and I’m going back to school.

We have a college here on Maui. It was a community college but it’s been brought into the University Of Hawaii system. There are only two 4 year degrees available and I’m not interested in either one of them but they have a lot of Associate’s Degrees to choose from. I decided to become a medical assistant for starters. I’ll have my level 1 certificate by the end of summer. Then the plan is to complete the coursework and earn an AAS degree in medical assisting level 2. From there, who knows? If I like it we have a great nursing program on Maui. Or I can take online courses through a university and get a degree in something else. Clinical nutrition or Sociology come to mind.

I paid for my semester yesterday and rented my books. Great savings in doing it that way. So, I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life as I approach my 50th birthday.

And, to celebrate that 50th birthday, I’m also running again hoping to complete a half marathon in the spring. Don’t exactly know which race yet. The OC Marathon/half marathon coming up in May. Perhaps that one.

I haven’t blogged in awhile. I thought I’d get you all caught up.

Have a great weekend everyone!
