Just a little funny I wanted to share with you...
So you know how we as parents are always telling our kids not to post personal info online or exchange info with people you don’t know online, etc. etc. You hear the news reporting stories of people meeting their online buddy or whatever and things go wrong—in some extreme cases, someone gets kidnapped or killed (which is tragic and I’m not making light of it) but...
So I tell my kids I’m going to “meet” one of my new Fab40 friends for coffee. And of course, they give me the third-degree and lecture of all of the above aforementions, asking me how do I know my “friend” is really who she says she is? ..what if you get kidnapped or robbed ..or worse, what if she/he’s an axe murderer?!! So they make me give them the details of our meet up, which I do (a good idea anyway, just in case, and I love that they‘re truly concerned and looking out for mom).
I go to meet up with my new friend. And miraculously, I survive! And as promised, I call my kids soon after we‘re done with our coffee, and report that I’m still alive and my new friend is truly one of the nicest people one could ever hope to meet. And proceed to tell them: oh and btw, she’s not an axe murderer or kidnapper!
LOL :)
Very Funny Rose. You have taught your children well...almost Too Well!
As someone who has had many dates now with online men, I use that line to ask for their last name so I can look up if they are an “axe murderer“! Lucky for me, none have been so far
when a couple of my friends did this, i went with them, got the guys dl and license plate number. We cannot be too careful!! lol
Great story Rose! So glad your fab friend turned out to be fabulous.
Good idea MzTracy. I keep considering the online dating thing but get worried about the axe murderers. My daughter tells me not to bother that since I have moved I am sure to meet some nice farmer and she is already telling her kids that soon they will come to visit me and ride horses, lol.
I have to laugh, the things we say to our kids and they dont’ forget and they say them back at us. But they are right to tell us the same.
Your children are well trained ..
When I was a child we had a local shop that was very expensive and my mother refered to the owner as the “robber” and I innocently asked him if he really was a robber when I was around 5 - my mother died of shame ..
Jenni Googling potential dates very good idea ..
