How is a job worth a life?  The tragic event this week involving workplace violence has touched my life and greatly saddened me.

Do you feel it is just part of life these days for people to strike out with violence when faced with adversity?  What happened to the belief that life challenges makes us stronger? Rising to the occassion and turning a negative into a positive?? What has happened to respect of each other and life in general?

    • The tragic event involving violence has touched your life and saddens you.  Someone once asked me if I feel that a job is worth a life, or if I feel that it is just a part of life these days for people to strike out in violence when faced with adversity.  After traveling to Europe, Prague, Ireland and Greece, and other southern islands, I realize that our U.S. culture is very, very selfish.  It was refreshing going out at 10:30 at night, seeing the streets packed with people.  Arm-in-arm or hand-in-hand chatting away, window shopping or just enjoying the moments conversation.  I think we loose out and if each of us decide to continue down the selfish path in the U.S. we will continue to carve out a life of nothingness.  For those of us who realize this, like yourself, I find the only way things can change is by me taking the initiative to change myself, to reach out to others rather reaching inside.  But first, I have learned I must reach inside in order to know myself well enough to be grounded and know what I stand for, then and only then can I reach out to help others.
