No matter how old I get, no matter how long it's been since I've tumbled across the floor, fell off the bars, or stuck a dismount off of the beam; the gymnast is still in here.  I'm a 42 year old Social Worker, single mother, just hanging in there (pun intended) day in and day out.  It's been over 25 years since I was a team member of the Baldy View Gymnastics Team, but it's still deep within this middle aged body and mind.  Watching the incredible U.S. Gymnastics team in the Beijing Olympics stirred the me that is no longer visible to most.  It stirred old dreams that were not achieved, yet not regretted.  Although I never made the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team, there is a part of me that is always there in spirit. I fully appreciated the hard work, dedication and sacrifice it took for the girls, coaches and of course families to get to  such a tremendous level of accomplishment.  Sometimes it is difficult to accept fully that my body cannot handle the stress it takes to keep up in the sport, but my mind continues to remember and re-create the days that it could.
