My 7 year old and I had a “date” to go see WALKING WITH THE DINOSAURS Friday!  I actually got him out of school early and we went for vanilla cokes at a local diner.

Dylan was SO excited about the whole thing - HE LOVES Dinosaurs and he’s known about the tickets since Before Christmas!  We had seats 4 rows back from the staging area and darn near got breathed on by the T-Rex!

He was sweet, humble, and loving and the most expensive date i’ve had in YEARS!!  But worth EVERY cent!  The look on his face and the stories he told everyone made it an extreem joy!

My 10 year told me he hadn’t wanted to go to that - - though he was thrilled with all the video clips on my cell phone! - He informed me that he would “save” his for some other event.  “save” hmmmm, well, suppose that is clever and resourceful....goodness only knows what “event” he;ll try and talk me into this next year!!   OH, here we go the joys of growing sons!

Anyhow -this is a silly blog - but it was great fun.

The next to events are ALL MINE!  Elton John/Billy Joel & then Stevie Nicks/fleetwood mac!  So Excited!

    • Cindy - thank you!  I haven’t been to many things in the last SEVERAL years.  Reminding myself how important the time with friends and family are!!

Holdonloosely - From my experience with my own & friends There is no question that the kids just TRULY need & thrive on some alone time - an outing  - with a parent.  We all know it doesn’t take much to make them (even us sometimes) feel really special.  My baby just got lucky - timing was good and it was part of his C-mas present! happy

Funny - my neice always talks about going to dinner with her mother and me on her 6th birthday - says it was the best thing ever!!   TOO MUCH FUN!

WE always try and do the one on one thing with each child. It helps them to feel extra special.

    • That’s so sweet. I always loved spending time with my sons. It was our ritual to spend their birthday together at a restaurant of their choosing.
When my oldest son went to the Navy, he returned the favor and would take me to dinner before he had to return to the Base. He would look so excited to tell me “Mom, choose anything you want“.
It is one of my fondest memories of my son.

I have been so caught up with everything that has been happening in my life lately, that your blog brought me down to earth today!
My 10 year old daughter and I are always doing things together...a lunch and shopping day or dinner and a movie
but I rarely do anything with my son...Sure I go to his basketball games and baseball games but one on one time has been few....I am going to plan something special with my 10 year old son this weekend! Thanks for sharing your special day!!

      =)
