Good Morning All!

This is the weekend of Easter. I know it means different things to different people. I would love to hear how or if you celebrate Easter. What are your traditions? Whatever you have going on or nothing at all I am interested.

I am still in the process of beginning new traditions since I have moved to TN and my family is in MI. I have my husband here, my SS Garrett, and my oldest daughter Megan with me. I do have a neice and aunt about 4 hours away. But my youngest daughter Kylie, my sisters and their families are all still in MI.
My original plan was to go to visit my husband in Memphis vs making him come home again for the weekend. But I received a call from my sister Jenny. Her and my BIL Bruce left yesterday to come down here. They are making a few stops along the way before I meet up with them in Clarksville on Sunday to have dinner with them, my aunt and neice. I am so excited to be having a large dinner again. It is what I am used to. The only part missing will be the great neices and nephews won’t be there to do easter egg hunts.

Enjoy your weekend however you spend it.

    • I was discussing this with a friend the other day and I was telling her that I have to go used to the fact of my mom not being here, because we all used to get together at mom’s house, she would do all her grand daughter’s hair putting those shirley temple curls in as we used to call them lol, and we would color the eggs and help her prepare the meal. But since she is no longer with us I will be cooking for my family my daughters will come over and we will have dinner after church service and probably watch movies.

    • Neicy it made me smile while reading your response. It made me think of the rituals we would do as young girls with my Mom.
What a blessing that we both have happy memories of Easters past.

But I know that she is still living in me and this is why I do what zi do for my daughters and grand daughter try to keep the tradition of good family union together doing family things, we don’t get a lot of that in todays world I cherish every moment with my family like my mom did with us. Thanks!

    • Your Easter sounds nice but I know what you mean about not having the little ones around...it is so much better twhen little kids are around...LOL
We were supposed to go to DC to hubbys cousins house but our kids have work and sports obligations that would just make us have to rush the weekend so we are just going to stay home. We will go to Mass together, all 7 of us ( for the first time in ages!) Then home and I will prepare a nice big Easter dinner and we will all just hang out and watch movies and chill! A nice relaxing day! We are not even doing Easter baskets this year for the first time in 24 years. With finances still very shaky, although they are slowly getting better, we firgured one big family basket is in order for this year, instead of spending money on goodies for 7 baskets. I am going to dye eggs though, tomorrow , and use them for egg salad to accompany Easter dinner. I do that every year!

    • Ree it sounds like an absolutely wonderful way to spend a holiday. I hope you enjoy the togetherness of family.

Lisa I haven’t had breakfast and your list is making me very hungry. I may have to pull out last nights roast for breakfast. And I think hiding reeses peanut butter eggs is a much better idea to hiding hard boiled eggs and more yummy to eat!

    • My Easter is really starts with Palm Sunday and ends with Easter. Palm Sunday is and was always a big day in my family with the big family brunch after Mass, the Palm procession at Church. Then it is the Parish Seder Meal. Now I am old enough to help prepare and it is fun joining my parish family for this celebration. My Parish Proest is Jewish and he shares a lot of his memories along with the Seder Meal. the next evening is Holy Thursday, Mass the washing of the feet, the stripping of the altar and eucahristic adoration, the next day is the living stations of the cross thorugh downtown Atlanta then it is the Good Friday service. The next day is the Easter Vigil, where the new members join the church and receive the sacraments. Then it is Easter Sunday, Easter basket time and a day spent with the family, and a big meal. I love Easter

I am grateful to be alive and in the U.S.

    • The only thing planned is that my mother, father, aunt, brother, sister in-law, and nephew will spend Easter together. The start of the afternoon is an Easter egg hunt in the front yard for my three year old nephew and neighboring children who are at home for Easter. Maybe we will watch a movie or talk the rest afternoon away. Finally, the end of the day will consist of eating a healthy meal together.

    • This easter weekend I will be at work. I will be attending saturday easter vigil. I won’t be spending it with my folks or brothers.....kinda makes me homesick because I can remember our easters growing up they were awesome. My dad will always cook a big feast...the kids would hunt for eggs. It was a time when cousins, aunts and uncles would get together and have a good time! It always was a special holiday. Great memories! Have a great easter vicki and all the friends of fab 40!
