Greetings!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial day. It is now the time that the summer is heralded in and we feel like doing more activities outside. Our little island of St. Simons has many tidal surges. I am sitting outside looking at the beach now admiring the beautiful sandy beach and the gently rolling waves. I love to swim in the ocean and the water is really tempting me today.  

Our bootcamp is going fantastic. I am so excited about the progress I am hearing from the bootcamp members. We just had our lecture on ‘Healthy Digestion for a Glowing Complexion’ with expert Todd LePine, MD and ‘Nutrition and Fitness’ with expert J.J. Virgin. One emphasis is the importance of living a very gluten limited or gluten free lifestyle. This can make a difference in so many immune conditions as Dr LePine and JJ explained. I think many of us have not realized how much it affects us, our digestion, and absorption of nutrients. But as I hear from my bootcampers who have never tried a gluten free program before and listening to how excellent they feel with the entire detoxification program, I am further inspired and motivated to get the word out to all of you.  

Additionally, we mentioned omega 3s as important for our cells, brain, hair and skin. There are many different omegas out there so I don’t recommend just pulling one off the shelf. Our oceans are getting contaminated, our fish can contain heavy metals including mercury, so we want to ensure that we are getting omega 3s from the purest sources, especially when giving them to our children. This is an important point that I emphasize to patients in my practice and the reason I carry high quality nutraceuticals supplementations in my practice. I want the safest available for my children and that I can also use with other children. There is a tremendous range of differences. If you look at a simple omega 3 1000 units of omega fatty acids, an over the counter grade may only contain 120 EPA DHA. Ours contains 780 EPA/DHA in one capsule so it is a much more therapeutic concentration of the healthy omega 3s.  These are things you want to pay attention to when buying Omega’s, also that they are from cold water fresh caught sources and have been tested for heavy metals.

At this time of the year we‘re so able to get fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and salads and greens that I recommend shopping at your local farmers market and choosing the healthiest best looking organic products you can find. Remember you are not only what you eat, you are what you absorb. So again, a healthy digestion is needed for a glowing complexion.
