Did anyone see Charla Nash on Oprah Winfrey show?  She is the lady who was mauled by a chimp back in February.  This was the first time she has revealed her face.

I was saddened to see this on You Tube.  She was a lovely lady with a good life and now she is severly disfigured and blind. She’ll be scarred for life both mentally and physically.

These type of stories are very sad and I wish people wouldn’t own chimps.  Although, they are adorable and likable creatures; they are VERY dangerous and STRONG!!  Chimpanzees should should remain in their own habitat where they are happy!  People!  They are NOT human! They are wild animals who are unpredictable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Travis the Chimp is dead now...the victim’s family has sued the pet owner, and the victim has no face.

      Tragic.

They are wild and have wild Instincts In them, It doesn’t matter how cute they might look or how adorable you think they are, they are wild! No matter how much you care for them or give them a home and feed them and baby them, they still have that wild side that only they know and were born with. I can understand how some people take care of wild animals cause they are old or got Injured somehow In the wild and you want to take care of them, but you must know what your doing and have a professional to help you, but too want them as a pet Is just crazy.

I had tears In my eyes when I seen Charla Nash, I was so sad for her. I just cannot Imagine. My heart and prayers go out to her.

    • How awful.  There was a man here in South Florida, I believe he once played Tarzan in a 60s movie, who kept big cats on quite a bit of acereage.  One of them escaped and of course hunted some animals that were pets, before being killed himself.

I hope that people see Charla Nash and think twice about owning dangerous animals.  My prayers are also going out to this lady.  Maybe someday there will be a miracle-doc out there who can restore her face.  I hope so.

They should be left in their homes and their habitats. Sad when animals are killed for doing what they do!

      Stop owning these people!!!

    • Very tragic story .......... but what possesses people to own a chimp ?
They are wild animals and very strong ..... just not natural – in the UK you can't own animals like this very strict rules thank goodness.
It always ends in tragedy – for the person they attack and then the animal losing its life ...

    • Yes, I hate the fact they have to kill the chimp, but they have to.  They‘re capable of ripping a person to shreds and they shouldn’t be living with humans!!!!!  It’s not their fault.  I’m with you Tracy and Vicki!!!!

It is very sad and tragic but if you listened closely the lady is dealing with it really well...better than I would. She said that she is still the same person inside. That has not changed. Such a beautiful attitude to have. So many woman are so busy trying to remake theirselves and this woman has gone through such a tragic thing in her life and can say She is still the same person inside!! Truly amazing...She is a hero!!!

But I’ll say this: If my friend owned a 200 lb. primate on psychotropic drugs (which she slept with and took baths with), and asked me to come over for a visit, I would say “oh hell no!” and that’s that. That wasn’t the first time that chimpanzee bit and scratched her, he attacked her when he was younger.

Reminds me of the guy who had a tiger (and a cayman) in an apartment in Harlem, NY a couple of years ago. He didn’t live there, but kept the tiger there. He would go there, open the door, throw a raw chicken in the place, and close the door. This was an almost full grown tiger, who used a specific corner to relieve himself, which had to disgust the neighbors below that apt. The tiger scratched the daylights out of him and he went to the doctor to get stitches claiming a pit bull bit him. The doctor, no fool, called the police because there was no way a pit bull did the damage the tiger obviously did. The tiger is now in a zoo and that fool goes to visit him.

Can you imagine if one day, that tiger out of frustration, to knock him down, sick of raw chicken and decided to snack on one of his neighbors’ children as they came home from school? Wild animals need to stay wild, they don’t become domesticated!

There was an elderly couple who were attacked by two chimps around 5 years ago and left the man in terrible condition.  They were celebrating their chimp’s birthday.  Remember that one?  You’d think that people would learn about the dangers!!!
