It feels like I have been gone for a while.  I pray everyone is doing well...healthy, happy and full of spirit, although at times that can be tough, but we all do our best. A little update on my life right now.  Our son Steve is doing much better..his CAT scan came back clean with some healing left to do, but as a whole, he is back to work and has taken up fishing as a big part of his summer.  This morning he and his dad picked up Steve’s buddy and they went fishing for the day at a local lake.  It is a catch and release lake, but just being outside hanging with the guys is fun for them.

We are working on helping Steve find a used car, so he does not have to borrow one of ours all the time.  It is tough to juggle just two vehicles between three people who have erratic schedules, but we have made do.  Suburban living can be difficult because of limited bus service and everything is spread out.

Hub and I spent last weekend with friends who bought a camper and invited us up.  It was fantastic!  The camp fire, bbq-ing, catching up with each other and we are now thinking about buying a small camper next year to set up for the weekends, life is short, have to explore all avenues.

The volunteer program at Meadowbrook Farm is going very well.  I love being part of the whole garden experience.  As of late, I mostly weed and plant small things, but we are working diligently in the Woodland Shade Garden, which will be my baby as soon as it is ready to cultivate...then I will be able to share experiences and information...everything takes time.

I have had some bad bouts with my Fibromyalgia this summer..the heat and humidity has been treacherous for me, so I spend the really hot days in the AC and I am usually up very early tending to my own garden and outside critters.
Our hummingbirds have arrived and we have one ruby-throated male and two females.  They are fun to watch.  The sparrows, robins and cow-birds have really over-populated this year as well as the house finch, yellow finch and black-capped chickadees.  We have a Carolina wren, Northern flicker and red-bellied woodpecker hanging around, along with the cardinals, blue-jays, grackles, nuthatches and catbirds.  The squirrels and chipmunks have fun also.  In our small pond, our five fish swim along with our two frogs.  Yes, we have a menagerie.

We are looking forward to the rest of the summer.  Plans to see my extended family up in Hancock, NY...then a winery trip in August, along with a day or two at the beach.

That is pretty much my life in a nutshell right now.  I would love to hear from my friends, feel like time as slipped away.  Let me know what is going on with you!

XO

    • Good Morning Mary!
I’m glad to hear your son is doing well and he is gaining strength.
So bad about your fibro acting up but yeah that it’s not stopping you all together!

For me I am studying for my real estate license exam and I did accept the job from my old employer. So I have been pretty busy with both. I’m also trying to keep my yard under control and colorful. But with all these high 90’s days it’s a job keeping them hydrated.
I’ve been going thru bulb catalogs plotting my fall planting and finalizing my thoughts for my backyard onto paper. I thin over the winter we’ll buy the materials that we can so we will be ready come early spring to start the transformation. My poor hubz......

    • Hi Mary! I’m so glad Steve is doing better. I know that gave you quite a scare.

It sounds like you‘re having a wonderful summer. The gardening work looks to really be up your alley. And I can just picture all the little creatures around your property. I wish we had hummingbirds. They don’t make it all the way to Hawaii. I had them in California and even in Washington State.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. Thanks for keeping us up to date and take care of yourself with that fibromyalgia. You amaze me the way you don’t let it slow you down!
