My name is Vikki McScrooge!

Ugh!!!!

I don’t know if I am being hormonal or if I’m just tired of the BS. Of course working in retail this time of year brings all things to the front if you are edgy about anything.

I’ve been in the beauty biz for more years than I can count. It is considered retail tho and the hours are the same as major retailers. I’m not complaining about that. I signed up for that a long time ago under full disclosure.

What’s making me cranky this year tho is the people. Yes that would be you!  Well you if you shop this time of year and forget to use your manners or make any attempt at compassion or consideration.

Do people really think that because I’m in retail than I deserve less respect than an office worker? Do people really think its ok to go off on me because their credit card failed to work? Do people really think that the lowly employees in the store selling, ringing or stocking are really responsible for the marketing, pricing or stock levels in each business?

And really do you expect me to stand there with a smile on my face while you verbally assault me? Is that what you think you are paying for?

It’s these people that seem worse this year than ever before that are getting to me.

Or am I just turning into the grouchy old lady?????

Tis the season.........

    • You are not alone. I live the same thing at the ski resort. People think that because they have or spend  money it entitles them to speak and treat you like S***. In the end, it all boils down to trying to feel superior to feel better about oneself. More and more people have a selfworth issue, and if our way of life doesn’t change, there’s a lot more to come unfortunately...

    • So sorry you must deal with this behavior, as we live in a very materialistic world, and many people live and breathe that.  They forget about the kindness, compassion, generosity, understanding that goes with being a human being.

In all honesty, I have seen people with money and those with very little acting mean and nasty, so it just depends on the person and their outlook on other individuals.

Sending you a BIG HUG and lots of patience!heart

Vikki, I’m sorry you have to deal with it.  You‘re not hormonal, you‘re a normal decent caring human being.  The fact that you’ve dealt calmly and rationally with that kind of people for so many years in retail is nothing short of AMAZING!!

I envy your patience and people skills.   Not all of us can deal with it like you do. hehe, there’s a reason I work in a warehouse where I don’t have to deal with Jane Public.

    • I’m sorry you had to be subjected to that, Vikki. People will tend to take their frustrations out on those that they don’t have an emotional attachment to. that’s why people who work in retail are subjected to this kind of behavior all the time. It’s not right. The hardest part is, we can’t look them in the eye and say, “if you hadn’t run up your credit card, it wouldn’t be rejected.” worried

    • sorry vikki, many years ago i used to work in hospitality.  for me it was in one ear and out the other, nothing more.  when i left hospitality became a full time mum i promised myself never to return to hospitality or any job where i would be dealing with customers one on one.  almost 23 years later and i can say that i would enjoy a retail, hospitality or publican job of some sort. a much needed relief from the house.frownestaticheart
