It has been a crazy period, in a great way.  So much is happening it’s hard to know where to start.  Our foundation is focused on helping Haiti in two ways: Giving Haitians what we want, jobs so that they can feed their families and also by helping the children of the communities we work in because they are so very vulnerable.  Oprah’s Angel Network has highlighted three of our stories in the past few months.

I can’t keep up with everything, but to let you all know what I’m up to I am working with a French school here in San Francisco to build a Tri-Lingual library in Haiti (Grand Goave area, if you‘re familiar).  Seniors have taken on the project and have collected hundreds of books.  We need more!  If you have children’s books in French please contact me!

Also we are helping to build a new school up in the mountain area near St. Etienne.  There are 160 kids in school today because God is good and he inspired people to build a corrugated metal structure for them.  The school is free, but lacks everything from blackboards to seats.  The kids are showing up and sitting amongst the pebbles on the floor simply because they can.  There has never been a school they could go to.

Finally our job project is a communal farming project based on growing a crop that will make clean fuel.  We are not using food land, and we are being very conscious of the environment (water being the key issue).  Our company, Sirona Fuels, and our foundation, Sirona Cares, are coordinating efforts to micro-finance farmers and give them loans to join in.  Many only need a machete or pick to get started earning a living for the first time on their own land because our crop (jatropha) will grow where food will not.

This blog entry is terribly long, but I get to it so rarely I wanted to include as much as I could.

If you’ve made it to the bottom, my deepest thanks!  Google Sirona Fuels if you want to learn more, my other blog is attached with photos of the beautiful kids we work with.

Blessings to everyone on Fabulously 40.  I don’t know about you, but my forties are the best years so far.  I posted this as a Motivation blog because I would love for everyone to know that a year ago I was a mother of three, and now I am caring for literally hundreds of kids, and I would love to motivate anyone who wants a change to reach out to someone who needs help.  That is the source of true joy.
