Im sure at least some of you have had a fever blister (cold sore, herpes whatever your choice of word is)on your lip or around your mouth.  Well seems one has popped out this week on the inner side of my upper lip.  When I get one, it’s always on the right side of my mouth. I know they appear from stress, low resistance and what have you.  Those who know me best here at Fab40 know the stress Ive been under these last couple of weeks. tongue out

I was wondering if any of you experience any pain in your face like I do and if you do, what do you do to help it???
The entire right side of my face is involved.  It hurts when I blink, my sinus in my brow is sore and tender, I have pain in my jaw into my ear (bearable) and a lymph node in my neck is slightly swollen tender.  I know that when a blister pops out, it runs along nerve lines and this is why I have pain.  I also feel very rundown and drained.  This is all common with these.

So if any of you have tried and true rememdies, please let me know.

Thx ladies...........xoxo

    • yes,Doreen, I know what you are talking about. But I think the real name is herpes simplex ( not herpes zoster which is definitely worse!!!). I have used different types of creams ( there's a very good one here in Italy called Zovirax with aciclovir ) I have recently tried small plasters to be put on but they sometimes do not work.
Anyway my problem has improved since I had menopausa.....as a matter of fact getting older is sometimes good!!!estatic
      Le me know and....relax!

    • omg i got one on my lip this week. i am prone to them when under stress or in a flare up.

      i use abreva.

There are prescriptions meds you can take when you feel them coming on that stops them, but with all the meds i take, i did not one another.

i used it years ago and it worked. cannot remember the name.

    • Yes, simplex is what I meant.  I have zovirax cream too but the sore is on the underside of my upper lip, not quite inside of my mouth and not quite outside.  I didnt want to ingest that medication.

mztracy:  I have abreva too but for the same reason above I dont want to use it.

My face is aching and the outside of my lip itches like crazy (not the sore itself but near it).  This too shall pass.

      xoxo

    • Doreen...I now and then get these annoying blisters as well, usually when I’m in the sun too long. What I use when I feel the slightest bump coming on is Zilactin-L with a cotton swab, this works immediately for me. It has an annoying taste but it really works! Hope you fell better soon. estatic

    • I don’t know about the cold sore or sore face. I like term’s idea.... swish some vodka (tequila would be my choice)around in your mouth then swallow, repeat this about 10 times and the pain should be gone.

      Good Luck!

Oh don’t forget to take 2 asperin when you wake up to help with the medicinal cure tonight.

      XO

    • Honestly try tea tree oil—-it’s antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties are wonderful. It has always worked very well for me.

    • Well I have to say that Vanilla really worked!  It stung like crazy but then it went sort of numb (anestectic-like).

Happy to say the sore is gone and my face feels great.  It only lasted a week!! Whew. Thanks for all your ideas and rememdies ladies!!

      xoxo
