We do things different here. We‘re a little more casual than other parts of the world. I want to share a recent business transaction but really want to know how business is done in your part of the world.

Friday night I was at a charity function. I got to talking with a private chef on the island. He was hired to prepare a special dinner for some visitors from Colorado. Even though it was not on the menu, he decided to order 2 dozen of my chocolates to share with his clients and pay for it himself. Very kind of him!

Monday I delivered the chocolates to the Costco parking lot - that’s right! He was on the way back from the airport and we met in the parking lot of Costco so I could deliver the chocolates to him on his way back to his client’s house. While he was driving into the lot, the owner of a cheese and wine store was walking through, the chef stopped her and told her he wanted to introduce us. So, as he pulled up to my car I looked across the parking lot to see a woman walking toward us. We met, we talked and she told me she’s looking for someone to make turtles and other confections for her store and for her wine and cheese tasting events. I’m stopping in to see her on Friday with some samples.

I have never made a turtle until today. But since I’m a chocolatier and chocolatiers make turtles I figured “what could be so hard about that?”

So here is the result of my “business meeting” in the Costco parking lot.

How do you do business in your part of the world?

    • I love turtles!

Working in the oil & gas industry for almost ten years I saw how word of mouth trumped advertising 90% of the time. We didn’t spend much on advertising, instead we promoted good will with our customers and supported golf tournaments that benefited family members or charities.

I love how business works via word of mouth. Being introduced to other business owners that can use your services is the best compliment.

    • Cynthia!  I love your story.  A clear sign you‘re on the right path....everything just falls into place...irregardless of the location.  I’m overjoyed that your business has taken off....enjoy the ride.  In “MY WORLD” we do business in just the same way....LOL

      Much Love!!!
