Growing up, I always had a dog and usually more than one at a time. Who else is happier to see you when you get home? I guarantee it’s not my step-daughter. She scurries out of the room like a cock roach when the lights come on.

Our dogs love us unconditionally. We just brought home with us from Texas my mother-in-law’s dog after she passed away in May 2008. We tried to find a home for her in Texas. A friend of the family wanted to take her so we took her to the vet for a full work-up. We got word that she had heartworm and it would be very costly to treat. We decided to take her home with us as she is such a sweet and loving girl.

She was used to being a “backyard dog“. Now, she lives indoors with us and our two other dogs with whom she has made fast friends with. You can just tell how grateful she is to be living inside with us. She is so attached that she leans against my legs when I brush my teeth. Pray that I don’t trip over her one day as I’m descending the stairs.

She knows when I’m upset. She’ll come sit next to me and look at me with her all knowing eyes. She’ll even lick my nose as if to say, “It’s alright“.

What would we do without our dogs? They‘re not only man’s best friend!

    • Michelle,

As I am reading your  post my Choc. Lab is laying beside me. Charlie Brown is 15 months old. Full of energy... He is just starting to calm down a little. He has a pedigree a mile long. Mom and Dad were both champions.

Sadie is a rescue dog. Part lab. It took a while to get her where she is today. Someone abused her. NOW, She is just perfect.

Lastly,Dakota and Montana are Siberian Huskies. 12 and 11 years old. They are our outside dogs. Just gorgeous. Blue eyes and Dakota looks like a wolf. He is black and white. Montana is solid white.

I cannot tell you the joy they have brought us. It does not matter if I am gone for five minutes or five days. They are so excited to see me. So loyal... All they want is our love and attention.

After working with people all day. There are many times I come home and say... The more I am around people...The more I love my dogs...

Thanks for sharing your dog story. By the way what is her name? What breed is she? I am sure she is so happy to be with you...

    • You can never have a bad day with those faces looking up at you!  I’ve attached a photo of Maggie Mae - she is a labradoodle with a heart of gold.  It doesn’t matter what happens at work Maggie is always there with an adoring face, wagging tail, and prance in her step when walking in the door.  Her love is unconditional and her zest for life is contagioushappy

    • My spoiled rotten child, Hannah, was at the groomer Monday. When I picked her up, they had written, “really sweet dog!” on the receipt. I was so proud!!!

    • Hi Michelle,

I have 3. A 14 yr. old named Hannah and 2 10 month old lab puppies Bruschi & Brady.

We had lost our 13 yr old this past January to Cancer and I forgot what it was like having puppies especially 2 at the same time.

But they keep me and Hannah rejuvinated and they treat her like the Queen that she is.

I grew up w/ outdoor dogs most of my life, however as an adult my dogs have access to both through a doggie door and they sleep on the couches and our bed.

I can’t wait for Halloween because we are having a party and I will be one of those mothers dressing up the puppies in a batman & Superman costume.
